Introducing our latest therapy space - The Green Room.
We have recently created a beautiful calm retreat in the centre of Chapter House.
This room blends coziness with practicality.

The Green Room is now available to rent by the day or half day to all experienced therapists (minimum two years post qualification).

Whilst we always welcome all enquiries to join our team, we are particularly interested in hearing from Couples counsellors and therapists who offer supervision.

Our room rates are highly competitive and we are very happy to discuss requirements over a coffee.

Joining Chapter House isn’t just about renting a room. We continue to focus on creating a supportive professional community of therapists working together under one roof. There are regular opportunities for attending our peer development group, resource sharing and occasional social events.

If you are interested in finding out more, please get in contact via our website enquiry form.

This is Phil Wilson

Phil is an integrative counsellor, professionally trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches. This flexibility allows him to adapt his work to suit the unique needs of each client. He works with adults aged 18 and over, supporting individuals through a broad range of emotional and psychological challenges.

Some of those challenges include, self esteem, identity, stress & anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma and loss.

Phil provides a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard and understood — whether they are seeking help to release emotional burdens or to make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. This is all done at the client’s own pace and can be client led or led by Phil if he felt the session would benefit from a specific approach.

While his practice is open to all, Phil has expertise working with men, supporting them in navigating the challenges they face and fostering greater self-awareness, self-worth, and healthier relationships. He also has significant experience working with individuals involved in toxic relationships, helping clients to identify unhelpful patterns, understand their role within these dynamics, and move toward more balanced and fulfilling connections.

If you would like to work with Phil please visit the website to make an enquiry and Phil will be in touch to discuss the next steps.

This is Lynn Elsdon-O’Brien.

Lynn offers a calm and kind therapeutic space to her clients. She is an integrative therapist with a person-centred core approach, which means she works alongside her clients in an empathic, non-judgemental and genuine way, using a range of therapeutic approaches that respect their needs as a whole person. She finds it an enormous privilege to nurture the client’s process of becoming unstuck: “I love to support people to find a balance of clarity and compassion in their self-discoveries”.

Lynn has experience working with a range of client issues, including grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, identity issues, discrimination, relationship issues, anger, stress and self-worth. She specialised in working with bereaved clients in her time at Cruse, and in working mindfully and somatically in her time as a counsellor at Mindful Therapies. She has continued to train in trauma informed therapeutic approaches.

Before qualifying as a therapist, Lynn’s fascination with the psychological benefits of reading literature led her to achieve an MA on the topic; she also facilitated shared reading for wellbeing groups in prisons, homelessness provision and libraries, and later taught English. She continues to bring her fascination for exploring personal response to literature into the therapy room, with clients that are open to bibliotherapy (reading fiction and poetry therapeutically).

If you would like to find out whether Lynn might be a good match for your needs, please get in touch via the Chapter House website or directly through her website.

This is Lizz Bennett.

She is a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor who works with adult clients, and qualified at the Northern Guild in Newcastle. Working Psychotherapeutically means exploring how a client’s past has shaped their present, building insight and awareness about patterns of thinking, doing and being, and considering what might be holding them back.

She offers a warm space where clients can feel heard, supported and seen, just as they are. She would describe her approach as unpretentious and real, aiming for genuine connection. She works collaboratively, prioritising her client’s autonomy and believing firmly in their inner capacity for knowing what they need. The relationship she creates with clients is at the heart of her practice, providing them with an experience of deep empathy, meaningful connection and mutual respect.

She is a passionate ally to marginalised communities and works hard to hold an intersectional lens. As an anti oppressive practitioner, she actively acknowledges the impact of systemic inequalities on everyone’s lived experiences, and holds space for her client’s full self. She is attentive to power and privilege and is committed to providing affirming, inclusive support for all.

She offers a free, initial 15 minute telephone call so you can decide whether she’s the right therapist for you. Please get in touch via the Chapter House website or via her website.

This is Lou Patrick.

Lou’s background is as an NHS Occupational Therapist (OT) helping people set and achieve individual, meaningful goals. She has been an OT over 20 years and continues to work within Palliative Care, helping patients and their families at what can often be a very difficult time.

Lou is qualified as a Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist using blended elements of psychotherapy. The Solution Focused approach is different in that there is no need to unpick all of the past - the focus is upon gaining clarity, celebrating strengths and creating a positive road map to move forwards.

She has completed further Solution Focused training with BRIEF in order to offer Solution Focused Brief Therapy sessions in their own right. These sessions suit anyone who feels that Solution Focused is the right approach for them and wants to focus fully on a more traditional talking therapy style i.e. without including hypnosis

As an advanced E.F.T. practitioner, Lou can also weave E.F.T. (sometimes known as tapping) into sessions. This is particularly useful for anyone looking to regulate their nervous system alongside processing thoughts and emotions. She is also a qualified Reiki Master Practitioner and particularly enjoys offering this energy healing within the calming space of Chapter House. Reiki sessions are often associated with a feeling of deep relaxation and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Lou works with adults experiencing all sorts of life challenges from phobias, anxiety and confidence to navigating grief and coping with the challenges of neurodiversity.

If you are looking for a friendly and gentle approach that helps achieve powerful results, then Lou could be the right therapist for you. To help you make that decision, she offers a free 45 minute online ‘cuppa & chat’ call which can be booked through her website.

Hide and seek is a wonderful game. It’s a delight. But only if you’re certain that you’ll be found. We all want to be found in one way or another. This means being seen and having thoughts and feelings validated and understood by another person. But what happens if we never have our feelings accepted and heard by the important people around us? For some children, when this happens, hiding can be a highly effective strategy and survival mechanism to protect themselves. Hiding becomes a way of life for them. A way of life where no-one comes to look for them or understands their feelings. This pattern can then continue into adulthood

What psychotherapy can offer is a safe place where clients (children and adults) can experience being seen and where they can start to allow themselves to be 'found' in the presence of a trusted therapist. It can be truly liberating.

Please get in touch with one of our experienced therapists via the website or send a message via the contact form if you’d like to explore therapy for yourself or for your child.

Based on science, psychotherapy is an art. There are many different theories we call on, interventions we can use and a wide range of approaches to choose from.

Many of these are creative but all are evidence based and scientifically proven. However, it’s an art form, with the relationship between the therapist and the client being the single strongest indicator of whether therapy will be a success.

The art is in getting to know someone, to build trust and allow them to feel safe with you. Knowing when to support, empathise, be silent, hold the space and when to challenge.

When you choose a therapist make sure that you find one that is right for you. Trust your feelings, you’re the expert.

Please contact us if you'd like to explore therapy further.

Siblings know each other in a way no-one else can. The death of a sibling can often be minimised in the face of parents’ grief but in reality, it’s the opposite. It can be devastating and can sometimes be called the loss of a lifetime because it's expected that this sibling relationship will last a lifetime. If you would like to explore this further in a facilitated group environment with others who have lost a sibling, please get in touch
