VERRUCA'S & Warts are both caused by the Human papilloma virus (HPV).

SYMPTOMS:-
Warts usually appear on the hands, body & face and can be round /oval in shape, firm to touch, and be itchy/painful. Verruca’s only appear on the sole of the feet, these are flatter with small black dots in the middle and can have a cauliflower like appearance, they can be painful when walked on.
Although they can appear singularly, it is not uncommon for multiple verruca’s to appear in a cluster & sometimes occupy a large area, they often can be confused for callus’s or corn’s

CAUSES:-
Skin to skin contact: coming in to contact or touching someone else’s Verruca’s
Contaminated surfaces: touching surfaces that have been used by someone with a verruca such as shoes, towel’s & floors.
Barefoot in public areas: places like swimming pools Gyms & changing rooms.

TREATMENT:-
Creams, Sprays & Plasters from the pharmacist
Verrutop
Salicylic Acid
Cryotherapy
Faulkners method
Laser treatment

ATHLETE'S FOOT also know as ‘Tinea Pedis’ is a common Fungal Infection. It occurs mostly in between the toes, and usually between the 4th & 5th digits. There are 4 types of athletes foot with the most common being Interdigital (between the toes)

SYMPTOMS:-
• White itchy patches between your toes
• Skin can become red and sore skin to cracked and bleeding
• Dry scaly skin on the bottom of the foot and extending up the sides
• In some cases fluid filled blisters can form on the soles & sides of the feet

CAUSES:-
• Walking barefoot in public areas like gyms and changing rooms where someone else with athletes foot has been.
• Touching the affected skin of someone that has it
• Its more than likely to develop if you have sweaty, wet and damaged skin

MANAGEMENT:-
• Dry your feet well after washing especially between your toes
• Use separate towels and wash cloths
• Change socks as often as possible at least once a day
• Creams / sprays & powders are available from the pharmacy i.e Lamisil
