If you or someone you know could benefit from a little extra support, we’re here to help.

Fire safety is something we take seriously every single day, not just on 👏

At Support Me at Home, checking smoke alarms and fire safety measures is part of our standard care for every client. It’s one of those important things that often goes unseen, but it makes a real difference in keeping people safe in their own homes.

Our team regularly carries out checks and audits, keeps clear records, and makes sure everything is working exactly as it should. If we spot any issues, we don’t just note it and move on, we help arrange repairs, replacements, or additional alarms where needed.

It’s all part of going that extra step for the people we support. Because we’re not just a care company… we’re a care company that truly cares 💛

🔥 When did you last test your smoke alarms? Take a minute today to check them.

💛 It’s okay not to be okay 💛

In care, we hear this more often than people realise.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do for someone isn’t to “fix” anything…
it’s to sit with them, listen, and show we genuinely care.

At Support Me at Home, our team are trained not just to provide care tasks, but to provide kindness, reassurance and emotional support every single day.

Because a small moment of support can make a big difference 💫

If you or a loved one could benefit from compassionate support at home, we’re here to help.

When someone says they’re not OK, it can feel confronting - and that’s normal.

Your role isn’t to fix their situation. Just listen, try to stay calm, and show you care. A small moment of support can make a big difference.

Looking for gentle, reliable companionship support for a loved one living with dementia? 💛

We’ve seen a few posts locally recently from families looking for a kind, patient befriender to support an elderly relative living at home and we just want to say, this is exactly what we do at Support Me at Home.

Not everyone needs full personal care. Sometimes it’s simply about:
☕ a friendly face and a chat
🍽️ a bit of help putting dinner on
🧺 light household tasks like ironing
🚗 getting out of the house for a coffee or a little trip to the shops
🤝 reassurance, routine and companionship

Our carers are fully trained, insured, DBS checked and experienced in dementia care, and we carefully match the right carer to each person so it feels natural, not clinical.

We support people across North Walsham and North Norfolk, and we’re always happy to have an informal chat to see what might help your loved one stay happy, safe and independent at home.

Sometimes our role in someone’s life is just one chapter… 💗

It’s always a bittersweet moment when one of our lovely clients moves on to a care home. While we’re sad to say goodbye, we’re also reassured knowing they’ll now have the additional support they need for this next stage.

Over time, we build real relationships with both our clients and their families so it’s never just “a job” to us. We truly care.

Receiving messages like this reminds us why we do what we do:

“Thank you for all your help and the marvellous care J has received.”

You’ll be very much missed by all of us here at Support Me at Home 💗 We wish you comfort, happiness and the very best in your new home.

❤️ Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romance ❤️

For many older people, this time of year can highlight loneliness, especially for those who have lost a partner or live alone.

At Support Me at Home, companionship is a huge part of what we do. A friendly face, a chat over a cuppa, or simply knowing someone cares can mean everything.

👉 If someone you love could benefit from a little extra company, we’d love to help.

Have you heard of a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)?

Many people assume that if something happens to them, their partner or family can automatically step in and make decisions.

Sadly, that’s not always the case.

Without a Lasting Power of Attorney, even close family may not be able to manage finances, pay bills or make decisions about care or medical treatment.

A Lasting Power of Attorney allows people you trust to legally act on your behalf if you’re ever unable to do so bringing clarity, protection, and peace of mind for everyone involved.

📘 Official government guidance can be found here:

While LPAs can be completed independently, many people choose to use a solicitor to ensure they are completed correctly and truly reflect their wishes.

🧡 At Support Me at Home, we often support people at the point where care decisions need to be made. Having the right legal arrangements in place can make those moments far less stressful for families.

If you’re starting to think about care for yourself or a loved one, early conversations and planning really do make a difference.

How to make a lasting power of attorney (LPA): starting an application online, choosing an attorney, certifying a copy, changing an LPA.

Mental health matters at every age, from childhood right through to later life 💬

During Children’s Mental Health Week, it’s a good reminder that emotional wellbeing doesn’t disappear as we get older. Many of the older people we support are parents and grandparents who still carry worries, stress and loneliness quietly.

At Support Me at Home, we know that listening, reassurance and companionship are just as important as practical care. Sometimes a conversation really does make all the difference 💗

👉 If you’re worried about a loved one’s emotional wellbeing, please get in touch, we’re always happy to talk.

Talking about mental health isn’t always easy, especially for older people, but feeling low, anxious or out of sorts shouldn’t be brushed off as “just getting older”. 💬

Time to Talk Day gives us a really important reminder that opening up and having a conversation can make a real difference.

At Support Me at Home, we support people not just with day-to-day care, but with companionship, reassurance and someone to talk to when things feel overwhelming. 💗

If you’re worried about yourself or a loved one, please reach out, a simple conversation can be the first step to feeling better.

Thank you Age UK for highlighting this so well.

For us of a certain age, talking about our feelings and our mental health might be something we're a bit uncomfortable with.

But the truth is, feeling out of sorts isn't just part of getting older and talking about it is a great way to start feeling better. Today is Time to Talk day, so what better time to start?
