Part of the Multi Award Winning Caring and Leading Group, Southwoods is family run nursing home well established in the heart of Northallerton, North Yorkshire. We believe that people need to feel content and secure- physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We believe strongly in our mission statement and we invite you to find out more about our passionate values in providing care. We are located conveniently near the heart of Northallerton town, close to all amenities and public transport

Spring’s starting to creep in here 🌼

We put some flowers out and made a few cupcakes, just something to do together. Safe to say they didn’t hang around long.

Nice to see everyone sitting a bit longer, having a chat, just enjoying it.

We had singer Claire Louise in with us this morning and it was a lovely start to the day.

A few of our residents really got into it, singing along, smiling, just enjoying the music. You can see it in the video.

It was wonderful to welcome members from Zion URC Church in Northallerton into our home.

There was such a warm, relaxed atmosphere throughout, with residents and visitors spending time together, chatting and enjoying each other’s company. These moments of connection mean so much and really brighten the day for everyone involved.

Visits like this are a lovely reminder of the importance of community and the role it plays in making our home feel just that, a home.

James, one of our residents here at Southwoods, loves getting out and about for a coffee and recently enjoyed a lovely trip out with Tracey, our Activities Coordinator.

These little outings are such an important part of life here. Keeping routines, enjoying familiar comforts, and having something to look forward to can make such a difference to someone’s day.

Creating a comfortable and welcoming environment is incredibly important in care.

At Southwoods Nursing Home, residents enjoy relaxed communal spaces, comfortable bedrooms and a warm, supportive atmosphere.

Visitors often say it feels calm and homely.

We just couldn’t not share this moment… 💛

There’s something so special about seeing our residents and the children from Romanby Pre School & Cabin Crew together and this video captures it perfectly.

Easter is a time for joy, connection and togetherness and you can truly feel that in these moments. From singing nursery rhymes to sharing smiles and laughter, the room was full of warmth and happiness.

For our residents, these visits mean so much bringing energy, memories, and a real sense of connection. And for the children, it’s such a lovely way to build those gentle, meaningful bonds across generations.

This is what Easter is all about 🐣✨

Thank you for such a beautiful visit we already can’t wait for the next one.

A very special Easter visit at Southwoods this week 🐣

We were delighted to welcome the children from Romanby Pre School & Cabin Crew into our home for an Easter Egg Hunt and what a lovely day it was!

From excited little footsteps searching for eggs, to quiet moments spent sitting with our residents, sharing smiles and singing nursery rhymes… it’s safe to say this visit brought joy to everyone.

Our residents absolutely love these regular visits, they create such a warm, family feel and give everyone something to look forward to.

Thank you to the children and staff for such a beautiful morning.
