Karen Eastwood - Women's Health and Paediatric Osteopath: "Many women experience ongoing symptoms after having a baby and assume it’s just part of motherhood.

Things like pelvic pain, back pain or weakness are very common, but they can often be improved with the right support.

Recovery looks different for everyone, and sometimes the body just needs a bit of guidance.

If anyone has questions about postnatal recovery, feel free to ask below."

After having a baby, many women experience symptoms that are often brushed off as “just part of recovery”.

Things like:

• Ongoing pelvic pain
• Back pain
• Weakness through your core

These symptoms are very common, but they’re not something you simply have to live with.

Your body goes through a huge amount during pregnancy and childbirth, and sometimes it needs the right support to fully recover.

If something doesn’t feel quite right, it’s always worth getting it checked.

Ross Gemmell - Osteopath & Clinic Director:

"A question I often get asked is what makes osteopathy different.

Osteopathy looks at how the whole body is functioning, rather than just focusing on one area of pain.

It’s a hands-on approach that aims to improve movement, reduce tension and address the underlying cause of symptoms.

If anyone is unsure whether osteopathy might be right for them, feel free to ask below."

From Karen, our Women's Health and Paediatric Osteopath at Easingwold:

"After having a baby, many women feel like their body just isn’t as strong or supported as it used to be.

Your core plays a huge role in this and it’s not just your stomach muscles, but also your back, diaphragm and pelvic floor working together.

During pregnancy, these muscles stretch and weaken, and sometimes they don’t fully recover without support.

This can lead to things like back pain, weakness or difficulty returning to exercise.

A Mummy MOT® can assess your core strength and provide tailored advice and exercises to support your recovery.

I’m Karen, a women’s health osteopath at Easingwold Osteopaths. Feel free to ask any questions if you’re unsure about your recovery.

Many people come to us after trying different things that haven’t quite resolved the problem.

Osteopathy takes a slightly different approach, looking at how the whole body is working, rather than just focusing on one area of pain.

Treatment is hands-on, tailored to you, and aims to address the underlying cause rather than just the symptoms.

Whether it’s back pain, neck pain, postnatal recovery or ongoing discomfort, understanding the root cause is often the key to long-term improvement.

If you’re unsure whether osteopathy is right for you, feel free to get in touch or ask any questions below.

Our Women's Health and Paediatric Osteopath, Karen:

"A question I get asked quite a lot is what actually happens during a Mummy MOT…

It’s a specialist postnatal assessment designed to look at how your body has recovered after pregnancy and childbirth.

We look at things like:

• Posture and how your body is holding itself
• Core strength and abdominal recovery
• Pelvic floor symptoms
• How your body is moving day-to-day

It’s really about understanding how your body is functioning and identifying anything that might still need support, even months or years after having a baby.

A lot of the time, women assume things are “just normal after having a baby”, but that isn’t always the case.

I’m Karen, a Women’s Health & Paediatric Osteopath at Easingwold Osteopaths, if anyone has questions about recovery after pregnancy or isn’t sure what’s normal, feel free to ask below, I’m always happy to help."
