Why hire a Post Natal Doula? Here’s just one reason, perhaps one you may not have thought of..

Having a baby, whether it be your 1st or 6th, is not only exciting & special but it can also be emotional, overwhelming, confusing and bring out emotions & behaviours you didn’t know were in you!

So, for that reason, having a Doula who will be there for you, to listen, to support, to care, to love and to check in on you is worth so much.

As a mother you want to be present, be strong and be the glue that holds you all together. You can’t fill everyone else’s cup unless yours is full too! So, do something for you, get in touch & allow me to be there for you! ☺️♥️

Some excellent tips here on keeping baby cool during sleep. The hotter nights can be worrying for parents - I hope this helps you ☀️👍🏻👶🏼

It's starting to look like summer might be here to stay 🤞

If you're getting worried about how to keep your baby cool while they sleep, take a look at our top tips for hot rooms.

We know it's hard to keep rooms cool in this country, so the most important thing to do is keep an eye on your baby for signs they are becoming too hot. To do this, check if their chest or back of neck feels clammy or hot. If your baby’s skin is hot or sweaty, remove one or more layers of bedclothes or bedding.

Training is well under way. This is an important subject to me as I am well aware there is no where near enough support for families who have experienced a baby loss whether it be through termination, miscarriage, neonatal loss, stillbirth or SIDS. 💔

Hi! I just want to update everyone that I am working here behind the scenes!
Due to Covid and having a higher risk child I am unable to currently assist at births or visit clients homes BUT I am able to offer my services via phone, email or video/zoom call. Like everyone else I can not wait for it to safe again to pick up where I left off!

Day 3 campaign: You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

This means that staff should be polite and respectful to you.

You should be provided with evidence-based information that is relevant and accessible to you, have your questions answered and be supported to make informed decisions.

You have the right to be kept physically safe, but also psychologically and culturally safe. For example, if you ask to see only female healthcare professionals this should be respected if at all possible. If you need to see an anaesthetist for instance and there are no female anaesthetists available all options should be discussed, so you can decide what to do.

You should not be left in an exposed or vulnerable position, for example having the curtains opened without asking when you are breastfeeding.

Day 2 of our campaign: when you make a request of a maternity service, they must start from "yes". The service must only say no if they really cannot safely support your request, and they should be able to explain why.

In other words if you want to give birth in the midwife led birth centre, or to have a caesarean, or to have your mum attend your birth as well as your partner, a Trust must first look to accommodate your decision, and only say no if they have a good, evidence based reason, having considered your individual circumstances. It is not good enough simply to say it is not their "policy". Care should be orientated around you. It is your right to decline any recommended option and to choose something which healthcare professionals might regard as unusual or “outside of guidance”.

For as long as I can remember, I (and probably you) have been encouraging birthing people to adopt upright, forward and open positions (so-called ‘UFO Positions’) in labor in order to make as much space in the pelvis as possible. “Open the inlet” has always been my mantra along with many o....
