September always feels like a new chapter — not just for children going back to school, but for all of us. It’s a chance to reset, to start fresh routines, and to focus on our wellbeing. For me, this month brings the start of my counselling training and welcoming new clients into Calm Minds Wellbeing. A reminder that it’s never too late to take steps towards growth, whether big or small.

As summer begins to wind down, it’s a lovely moment to pause and reflect. ☀️

Take a moment today to notice something that brought you joy this summer — a simple smile, a walk outdoors, or a little achievement you’re proud of.

Even the smallest moments of calm and connection can leave a lasting warmth as we head into the next season.

My furry companion is taking his own holiday this week — a gentle reminder that we all need time to rest and recharge. 🐾

Even short breaks, fresh air, and a change of scenery can do wonders for your wellbeing.

Wellbeing Myth Busting:

Myth: “You need hours to unwind.”

Reality: Even just five minutes of mindful breathing can help your mind and body reset.

Try this simple exercise tonight:

Sit comfortably and close your eyes.

Inhale slowly for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6.

Repeat for 5 minutes and notice how your body feels.

Small, manageable steps like this can make a big difference when life feels busy or stressful. Even a few minutes can make a big difference — give yourself permission to pause today.

Been really enjoying the new Dig It podcast with @ and lately — perfect for a walk or a quiet moment to yourself. 🐾

Taking small moments to recharge can make a big difference to your wellbeing.

Do you have a favourite podcast or little ritual that helps you switch off?

Wellbeing Tip of the Week:

✨ Set a ‘digital sunset’—turn off screens an hour before bed to help your mind unwind.

This small change can make a big difference to your sleep and how relaxed you feel before bedtime. Try it tonight and notice how it feels.

💭 I’d love to hear from you: Did it help? Or what’s your favourite way to switch off at the end of the day?

GCSE results day is nearly here. For many teens (and their parents, including me!), it’s a day of mixed emotions.

A gentle reminder:
✨ Results do not define your worth
✨ There are many paths to success
✨ Be proud of the journey, not just the outcome

If you’ve got a young person waiting for results this week, be kind to yourselves. A hug, a listening ear, and a reminder that they are valued whatever the paper says, can make all the difference.

Not every day flows perfectly — sometimes I sit at my desk with a busy mind and a list that feels never-ending.

When that happens, I remind myself of the same advice I often share with others: pause, breathe, and take things one step at a time.

✨ It’s okay not to have all the answers.
✨ You don’t have to do it all at once.

What’s one small step you’ve taken today that’s helped lighten your load?

We’re now over halfway through the summer holidays – and this can be a tricky stage for some families.

The initial excitement has worn off, routines are looser, and emotions can start to run high.

If your child is finding it harder to manage their feelings, remember: it’s not about ‘fixing’ everything for them, but helping them navigate their emotions and build resilience.

Small moments of connection, open conversations, and reassurance can go a long way.

If you’d like some support for your child from September, I have a couple of spaces left for 1:1 sessions – please message me for details.

🎓 Results Day 🎓

For some, today brings joy and relief. For others, it’s disappointment, worry, or uncertainty about what’s next.

If your child’s results weren’t what they hoped for, remember:

They may need time to process before hearing “It’ll be fine.”

Validate how they feel — “I can see you’re upset” is more helpful than “Don’t be upset.”

Focus on what’s in their control now rather than what’s already happened.

Remind them that this is a moment in time, not a life sentence.

It’s not your job to “fix” the feeling for them — just being alongside them is enough.

💬 How do you help your child navigate setbacks?

☀️ After a week away by the sea, I’m feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready for the months ahead.

Sometimes, we only realise how much we needed a break once we take it. Rest isn’t a luxury — it’s essential. Whether it’s a week away or 10 minutes with a cup of tea, making space for pause can completely change your perspective.

What’s been your moment of rest this summer?
