Most people don’t struggle to start in January. They struggle a few weeks later.

Not because they’re lazy.

And not because they lack motivation.

It usually falls apart because people try to do too much, too soon.

They go from barely exercising to training every day.

From enjoying indulgent meals and a few drinks to suddenly trying to be perfect with everything.

More rules.

More pressure.

And for a short while, it works… until it doesn’t.

January tends to work better when it’s calmer.

When the plan fits around real life, not the other way round.

We’ll be opening a small number of spaces for our 6-Week January Kickstart towards the end of this week.

You know when you’re carrying Christmas shopping back to the car, and you end up stopping halfway because your arms are done?

Or when you walk up one flight of stairs, and your knees let you know they’re not enjoying it.
Those moments seem small, but they can quietly knock your confidence.

That’s what our member Laurence noticed changing after finishing her 6-week Kickstart with us.

She said she’s got more energy, feels stronger, and things she used to find hard now feel easier.

Her breathing settles quicker, her heart rate doesn’t climb as fast, and she mentioned having a bit more bounce in her step.

The way we train is a big part of that.

In our sessions, you use weights that are challenging for you. You’re not rushing through exercises with light weights just to get your heart rate up.

You’re coached through each movement so it actually does something.

It’s the kind of training where you leave tired, but not wrecked, and you know the session was worth it.

No pressure to do anything big before Christmas. It’s just a chance to come in, see how we train, and get a feel for it so you’re not starting cold in January.

This was after only 2-3 weeks of training at TSC.

It’s often the first thing people notice.

You catch yourself standing a bit taller.

Your back & shoulders feel less tight.

You walk with a bit more of a “bounce in your step”

It’s a geat sign that your body is heading in the right direction.

If healthier meals feel underwhelming when you start a new diet... that's completely normal.

You're not doing it wrong. You're not broken.

You've likely just spent a long time eating food that's been engineered to taste amazing - salt, sugar, fat, texture - all dialled up to max.

Unfortunately I think this messes with your expectations of how textures and tastes of food should be.

So when you go from that to lean protein, veg, whole carbs... of course it feels a bit bland at first.

But here's the good news - your mindset and taste buds will adjust.

It doesn't take long before those foods start tasting good again.

And when you're not constantly overstimulated by hyper-flavoured stuff, you'll actually start to appreciate the simple stuff again.

No, this doesn't mean you can never eat the tasty stuff.

Food is most definitely meant to be enjoyed.

But it does mean understanding how it influences your cravings - and how your body adjusts.

If you're in that early phase where nothing tastes exciting, just hang in there.
It gets easier.

We’re doing a half marathon hike for Cancer Research UK! 🥾

Like most people, I’ve known people affected by cancer. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t.

So on 14th June, I’ll be hiking 13.1 miles through the Peak District with a group of members from TSC Training Studio.

We’ve been doing weekly walks as a team to build some endurance, on top of the good stuff we do in the studio.

It’s been a decent excuse to catch up outside the studio and have a few laughs along the way when we get lost 😂

We’re all raising money for Cancer Research UK. If you’re up for supporting the cause, I’d really appreciate it. 💷
