Let’s talk about Goddess Pose - Utkata Konasana again, as it’s an extraordinary Yoga asana for cultivating confidence and inner power.
This pose can instill a sense of empowerment and grounding. It can be an expression of the inner goddess energy present within everyone, encouraging practitioners to stand firm and embrace their power.
To practice Goddess Pose:
Begin by standing with your feet wider than hip-width apart. Turn the toes out, heels in, creating a 45 degree angle with each foot. As you exhale, bend your knees and lower your hips into a squat, keeping the knees aligned over the ankles.
There are various arm positions you can use here to enhance your practice:
🙏🏻Bring the hands to prayer position at heart center to encourage a sense of balance and inner calm.
🦅Eagle arm position opens up the shoulders and upper back. To do Eagle arms, bring one arm under the other, bend elbows to a 90 degree angle, then bring the backs or palms of the hands to touch. Slide the shoulder blades down the back.
👌🏻Arms extended with hands in gyan mudra - extend the arms out to the sides, bringing the thumb and index finger to touch to form a circle while the other fingers remain extended. This mudra is associated with grounding and clarity, knowledge and wisdom, and enhances concentration. Integrating gyan mudra into goddess pose can help focus the mind and establish awareness to the connection between the physical and subtle bodies.
Hold the pose for several breaths, feeling the strength in your legs and core. Keep the core engaged, spine straight.
To exit, press firmly into your feet and straighten your legs, lowering your arms to your sides.
After performing this pose, you may feel an invigorating sense of empowerment and vitality. It activates the chakras from the root ❤️ to the heart 💚, aligning the body’s energy centers. Physically, it strengthens the quads, inner thighs, glutes, and core, enhancing balance and stability.
