The Value of International Connection in Physiotherapy 🌍
Physio First Chair, Katie Knapton, recently attended the IPPTA meeting in Bogotá, which was both inspiring and humbling. Beyond the vibrant streets and the warmth of our Colombian hosts, what truly stood out was the strength of connection within our international physiotherapy family.
It is always tempting to think “the grass is greener elsewhere.” Hearing firsthand the experiences, challenges, and innovations from colleagues across the world reminds us that while our contexts may differ, our profession is united by the same values: care, expertise, and the drive to support patients.
IPPTA provides a unique platform where private practice physiotherapists can openly share, learn, and challenge one another. These exchanges help us not only to broaden our perspectives but also to return home with renewed energy and ideas that strengthen our local communities and practices.
Katie looks forward to providing a more in-depth reflection for Physio First members, sharing both the opportunities and the realities of international collaboration. Keep an eye on your weekly member bulletins.
This is about embracing the international family that is physiotherapy, a profession that thrives on connection, openness, and mutual support. Together, through IPPTA, we continue to advance and protect the role of private practice physiotherapy worldwide.
