Tai Chi Workshop - Posture Testing
Saturday 14th March

Saturday 14th March 2026

23/01/2026

The push hands workshop this Saturday will be focussing on rooting. The ability to keep one's rooting through listening and feeling is the essence of the Art of Tai Chi. Push hands accelerates the growth of your rooting - internal power - a force unseen, but felt by others. When your rooting develops, your confidence and solidity does too. Rooted people present differently. Seasoned Tai Chi practitioners emanate certain qualities of palpable calmness and centredness and are some of the hallmarks of successful practice.
Develop your rooting and transform yourself.
All welcome.

If you are looking to awaken your energy as we go into the new year, why not come along to one of our Tai Chi & Chi Kung classes at NNorthampton Museum & Art Gallery
Discover the ancient art of Tai Chi and Chi Kung (Qigong)—a graceful, flowing practice performed standing, and suitable for all levels of health and fitness. These time-honoured movements are more than just exercise; they’re a pathway to balance, vitality, and inner calm.

Led by Sifu Nick, regional representative of the Master Ding Academy, you’ll explore the full depth of traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan, passed down through generations. Through solo and paired practices, you’ll learn to cultivate and harmonise your internal energy—known as chi—while building strength, focus, and a deep sense of well-being.

While Tai Chi has martial roots, today it’s embraced by many for its powerful benefits:
A calmer, clearer mind
A stronger, more resilient body
A sense of harmony and connection
A natural way to reduce stress and restore energy

What to Wear & Bring:
No special equipment is needed. Just wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows free movement, and flat-soled shoes like trainers or plimsolls. Bring a bottle of water to stay refreshed.

Ok, so Thursday evenings (7-8:30pm for Tai Chi and 8:30-9:30pm for power training and applications) will continue at the Deeper Being training cabin, 257 Harlestone Road NN5 6DD, for now, as St Gregory's RC Church hall is currently shut. When you arrive for Thursday evening class, please avoid parking in front 255, 259 and 261 - please spread yourselves out x.

Fyi, there's been a fire at the Church and the whole thing's shut right now. No one has been hurt. They don't seem to know the cause as yet. It's been described as 'substantial damage'.

Just a reminder that all Tai Chi classes are closed this week whilst Cat, Gary and I are away on the annual week-long instructor retreat and Joe is away working. Rachael is running meditation as usual.

We're back teaching Tai Chi on monday 2nd June.
I'd also like to remind that not long after we get back, we've the next Tai Chi workshop on saturday June 7th, 10-4pm. You can book on to it on the website. Link follows. Or just let me know you're coming and you can bring cash on the day..

Balance and Stability:
A day of becoming calmer, more centred and more powerful.

In this workshop we will use partner and group exercises to see how Tai Chi and internal power (chi cultivation, circulation and application) can help us in our day to day lives.

Students of mine use these skills and strategies in business, difficult personal relationships, legal cases, dealing with traumas, the public and much, much more.

Remaining calm and centred whilst one's energy circulates is felt viscerally and instils a confidence in being able to face difficulties.

Tai Chi in the wider context aims to create strong, calm people who can withstand their own and others thoughts and emotions, whilst at the same time resting into the natural joy, fun and pleasure of an exciting, fulfilling life.

Tai Chi gives you the power to relax and let go.

All welcome, all abilities, all levels of experience - from complete beginner to advanced practitioner

The workshop will run from 10am until 4pm. Green tea will be provided. We will take a 1 hour lunch break. If you would like to bring your lunch with you and eat in the cabin, you are welcome to do so.

Non MDA members - £65

MDA member price - £60

Spread the word. Anyone welcome. The more the merrier. Let's get more involved in this fascinating, transforming Art.
