Today one of our Funeral Directors Amy ran the Race for Life in memory of her Mum, Fiona. She ran along side her best friend Luke who ran in memory of his Dad, Terry.
So far they have raised £580. Well done to you both. We are very proud of you.

BRITTEN Stephen passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on Wednesday, the 30th of April. He was 72. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen; his three children: William, Caroline (Pine) and Andrew; his many grandchildren, and his brother Tony and sister Wendy (Swift). Steve was a truly happy man, who lived life to the fullest. A lifelong resident of Northampton, he worked as a quantity surveyor before moving to Overstone Holiday Park, where he enjoyed his later years. He loved helping others and was a cub leader, receiving a certificate for more than 25 years of service. He was also a mentor to many over the years. He especially enjoyed gardening, and took great pride in all his beautiful flowers; his real passion was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren; he enjoyed travelling and spent a good deal of time in Spain and visiting his son and family in the United States. Steve loved watching sports, playing table tennis, a good book and a jigsaw puzzle, and long walks in the woods. He really enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, like a bowl of ice cream or a piece of cake with a warm cup of tea, or a cold pint with friends at the pub. He will be sorely missed. The funeral will be held at Saint Peter’s Church in Weston Favell on Wednesday, May 28th, at 2:00 pm, followed by a private cremation. The family would like to invite you to join them following the funeral at the Old Northamptonians, Billing Road, Northampton NN1 5RX. The family is planning to place a bench in Steve’s honour at Overstone Holiday Park, where he loved going for walks. Meakins Stephen Lloyd
10th October 1940 - 28th January 2025

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Stephen Lloyd Meakins, who died at home in Castle Ashby on 28th January 2025 with family by his side.

Born on 10th October 1940, Stephen’s life was filled with creativity, passion and a dedication to the arts. He had a long and fulfilling career as a teacher of both art and music and was widely respected in the world of performing arts, particularly for his leadership in choral music. His influence inspired the careers and passions of many musicians and students who had the privilege of working with him.

Stephen spent the latter years of his life as a resident of Castle Ashby where he cherished the friendship and community there, as well as the birds that visited his window.

Stephen was a loving father and friend; his warmth, humour and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at the Church of St Mary Magdalene, Castle Ashby on 18th February 2025 at 11.00. Family, friends, and those wishing to celebrate his life are invited to gather in his honour.
