World Stroke Day is observed annually on October 29th to raise awareness about strokes, their causes, and the importance of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
World Stroke Day was established to draw attention to the high prevalence and impact of strokes worldwide, as well as to educate people about risk factors and preventive measures. By encouraging lifestyle changes and preventive practices, World Stroke Day aims to reduce the global stroke burden and enhance the quality of life for stroke survivors.
* Stroke is a preventable disease. Up to 90% of strokes are preventable by managing risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and smoking.
* Stroke can have a devastating impact on individuals and families. Stroke can cause death, disability, and financial hardship. It can also have a significant emotional impact on stroke survivors and their loved ones.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a heart condition that causes your heart to beat with an irregular rhythm and raises your risk of a serious stroke. AF is a factor in one in five strokes and half a million people are living with AF and don't know it.
This we're proud to support the Stroke Association and join them in encouraging everyone to check their pulse for Atrial Fibrillation (AF) so that we can stop stroke before it happens.
