The weight that many women carry in today’s world is more obvious than ever.

I live in the UK, where women have rights that many women in other parts of the world are still fighting for, and I don’t take that for granted.

But even here, so many women feel the pressure.

The pressure to succeed. To contribute. To be present for family. To care for others. To keep going in a fast paced world that doesn’t always leave much space to breathe.

I see it in the women I work with every day. I hear the struggles of women giving their all and still not feeling seen or valued.

Women navigating demanding careers while raising families. Women pushing through exhaustion because life doesn’t slow down. Women going through perimenopause or menopause while still holding everything together for the people around them.

And many women are doing all of this while also trying to manage their own health and wellbeing.

Women experience higher rates of autoimmune conditions and chronic illnesses. I often wonder how much of that reflects the long term pressure and stress that we carry.

So today feels like a moment to acknowledge women, not just for their success and achievements, but for what they carry.

On top of needing more opportunities for women to succeed, we also need more support, flexibility, understanding and space for women to live well and feel well, and most of all be happy.

I’ve been a little quieter on here this month.

February actually started in such a motivating way. I was part of a lovely event and had the chance to speak about underfuelling and the impact it can have on the body, to a room full of wonderful women. It reminded me why I care so much about the work I do.

Then half term hit and it was probably one of the busiest weeks we’ve had in a long time. Work, juggling childcare and activities, studying, and trying to be present for my son all at once. On top of that, we’ve been back and forth to the vets with Bobby, who has been losing weight so quickly and having multiple tests to try and work out what’s going on. They’re still not completely sure.

It’s been a lot, so it’s also flown by and there’s been very little time for the usual things, including showing up on here.

But life happens. I’ve been trying to focus on small moments of happiness instead of worrying about what I should have done. I’ve been enjoying the lighter mornings and seeing the first flowers blossoming, that makes me very happy!

And now, it’s March!
Here’s to a marvellous March 🌸

We can’t expect to build muscle, get stronger, or improve endurance while eating less.

Training increases the demand.
It doesn’t reduce it.

Skipping breakfast.
Cutting carbs.
Fasting every day.

Your body will let you know.

Your motivation might reduce.
You’re tired more often.
You notice more aches that don’t go away.
You’re in pain more than you should be.

It’s not just physical thing, you feel it in your head too.
More irritable.
Lower than usual.
Thinking about food all the time.

Don’t ignore these signs!

If you want your body to perform, you have to support it.

More food.
More carbs.
More protein.
More colour.
More variety.

Neurodivergent women don’t burn out because they’re weak.

Being a mum.
Working.
Training hard.

The life load is heavy, and she comes last.

When a neurodivergent woman is chasing her fitness goals, it often comes at a cost.
Less time to plan.
Less time to eat properly.
Less time to recover.

So she ignores the small signals.
The fatigue.
The anxiety.
The overwhelm.
The pain.

Add in the mental load of a serious job and raising children, burnout can be so close.

I’ve lived this cycle more than once.

What looks like drive can actually be dysregulation.
What looks like power can be someone running on fumes.

And when someone beside her notices the low energy…
the short fuse…
the tension in her body…

It changes everything.

Planning the food shop so there’s fuel in the house.
Asking if she’s eaten, and making something if she hasn’t.
Protecting her rest days.

That support is more regulating than you’d think.

High-performing women don’t always look like they need help.
But sometimes the strongest ones are the most under-supported.

Anyone relate??

I absolutely love meeting new people and connecting. I get so much from it, and there’s such a high from being around like-minded individuals.

But a full day at a seminar or conference, travelling, being out of my comfort zone, the lights, the noise, the constant effort to fit in… it EXHAUSTS me.

As I’ve gotten older, I feel it more. And usually the following day I’m good for nothing 😴

Years ago, I would’ve powered through. Got up, done a heavy gym session, planned another full day of activities.

Now things are different. There will always be days that steal my energy, but I listen. I notice the cues my body is giving me and I go with it. If I need to recoup, that’s what I’ll be doing.

That’s what I need to replenish my energy so I’m back in full flow asap.
