For a while, I just removed puppy pose from my practice. I often taught it but never really practised it myself until I had this one change. To be honest with you, this is what my puppy pose will always look like moving forward because it works better for my body.

The latest blog post is here! When the theme is top tier, these posts are such fun to write. It's been a great start to yoga together in 2026.

Here's a little snippet... I’ve always found transitions to be one of the hardest parts of the physical practice of yoga. Our unique make-up means that these movements need to look a little different for each and every one of us. Whether it’s moving from a comfortable seat to tabletop, lowering yourself down to the ground, or making your way to standing, it’s about finding the way that works in your body. That’s not always easy when there isn’t time to explore.

A reflection on January’s yoga theme, Smooth Transition. This month we slowed things down to explore how we move from one shape to another, discovering that transitions are often where ease, strength, and confidence are built. A look at what we explored, what landed, and what I’m carrying forwar...

Need a little mood boost? Everyone looks a little concerned when I queue this one. Promise though, it's fun and a little stupid and it can put a smile on your face! It's not all serious serious in our yoga practice. Give it a try and let me know! I know those of you that are practising with me this month have definitely done this one.

Plank pose, anyone? I generally practise a 3/4 (or half) plank pose where my knees stay on the ground. I always bend the legs when I'm there because it shifts the point of contact from my kneecap to the space just above my knee. What do you think? Tried this one?

As we transition from 2025 to 2026, we will be exploring transitions from pose to pose in our yoga practice. This is an example of two options you might consider to move from lying on your front to tabletop. One is a roll up option whilst the other takes us through an 3/4 plank pose. Welcome to Sam Turner Yoga

I started teaching beginners classes in Northampton, Northamptonshire designed to be accessible, yet challenging. These classes find a balance between strength, stretch and breath as my goal is to help students strengthen the body, experience breathing techniques and a mind-body-breath connection. Classes are structured to start with simple warm-ups, moving through poses as we identify and experience movements that prepare everyone for the peak pose of the class. We then begin a warm down as we prepare for relaxation. I have a personal interest in anatomy and injury which is growing with research and training and is weaved into my classes.

As my beginners have evolved, I have changed my Monday classes to a mixed ability class. This has opened a space to introduce a new beginners class that will be joining my schedule on Thursday evenings from 2020.

I want my classes to offer the same benefits that kept me going to yoga in my second year of university. It helped me escape from the intensity of my studies once a week and counteract time spent at a desk. After attending regular classes, I decided to deepen my knowledge and practice by starting my 200-hour teacher training in September 2018, at Whitespace Yoga Studio in Stony Stratford. I completed my training and became a qualified yoga teacher in November 2019.
