Interesting.
I’d like to see this extended to a National review. Some schools are fantastic, some are not. It shouldn’t be a lottery.
I believe the National Curriculum and the ethos of modern schooling need overhauling. They seem to be industrialised institutions more akin to the 1970’s adult workforce. But now days they are only representative of white collar work.
At least in the 70s and 80’s schools also catered for practical and creative industries too.
Our post industrial world allows for choice, individualism, creativity, person expression, flexibility, I could go on. Our school system is still rigid, generalised and grey. No wonder we can’t recruit and keep teachers.
Having said all of the above, I know many amazing teachers who have put their whole lives into their jobs who have an up hill battle everyday just to keep on top of their work load and they do care. They give more of themselves than perhaps they can afford, in order to add colour in the grey and know their students individually. They truly are hero’s.
