Dog's Health and Well-being, Canine Bowen Technique Supporting a dogs Health and wellbeing with the soft tissue technique that is Canine Bowen Technique

Carole Justice Gray is the Chair of Canine Bowen Technique Association (CBTA www.cbta.org.uk) and authorised teacher of Canine Bowen Technique for EGCBT. She has been working as a Human Bowen Practitioner since 2009 in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire as well and then began working as a Canine Bowen Technique therapist travelling far afield working with dogs. In 2014 after working with and shadowing Sally & Ron Askew for two years in UK and Switzerland, Carole began running and teaching the established EGCBT Canine Bowen Technique self-Interest and practitioner course in the UK with fellow Canine Bowen Technique practitioner Eileen Smith. Carole has grown up with dogs – mainly Dachshunds and Golden Retrievers - and is now firmly in love with Hungarian Vizsla’s. She lived without a dog only when working in London as an advertising producer in the 1990’s. During this time she satisfied her love of animals by developing a keen interest in horses later becoming involved in Equine and Canine behaviour and training. As a result of this Carole was given a somewhat ‘complicated’ Hungarian Vizsla, who, along with her own return from ill health (M.E.), firmly established her obsession with complementary therapies and creating the most positive relationships you can have with dogs. The European Guild of Canine Bowen Therapists was founded by Sally & Ron Askew who developed the adaption of Bowen for use on dogs in the UK from 2001. Bowen therapists and experienced canine professionals Sally & Ron Askew integrated their findings into their established canine behavioural and rehabilitation work and in 2003 with the collaboration of their vet, designed a professional programme of training with an holistic approach, for people wishing to become properly skilled Canine Bowen Technique therapists. The course has been running in the UK since 2004 and the EGCBT Practitioner course in Canine Bowen Technique is currently the only course in Bowen for dogs recognised by both the Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA) and Bowen Association UK. We were on cloud 9, and then donations suddenly stopped.

It's Monday, and people are back to work in many countries. However, if we don't reach $500k today, plans are uncertain. We still have a long road ahead.

300 dogs and cats depend on you. We only have a few days left to raise the rest of the funds.

We're pleading with you to please share this post and tag anyone you think would care enough to donate even a few dollars.

Please, please, please!!!

❌ Time is no longer at our mercy.

We are not catching up and we need you to be as angry and passionate as we are!!!! 😤

Plans are in place. Over 250 of the 300 dogs and cats have approved homes in the US, but we NEED to reach our goal. News stations are ignoring our efforts, so we must get louder.

📣 Influencers who care about us and our rescues, please help us. In 10 days we either pay our bills or not. The airlift will be cancelled and we are not able to sustain the current 450 animals we have. If you can’t donate, let’s do a collaboration or please share our story. We went viral 3 years ago and need to again.

Please tag accounts with large followings who you think would help us. Tag them all!!

I am begging you.
Charlotte. Yes, haven’t slept in days.

Crufts - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

In the bustling arena of Crufts 2024, over 24,000 dogs proudly strutted their stuff.

But amidst the glitz and glamour, there's a sobering reality.

Some veterinary professionals voiced concerns over the slow progress in improving breed health - Dachshunds with very long backs or French Bulldogs with very flat faces.

Our guests are Alison Skipper, who has a PhD in the history of dog breeding and who is also a member of the veterinary team at Crufts, and Sean McCormack, a media vet who is also a passionate welfare advocate.

Join Robyn Lowe and Danny Chambers in this thought-provoking debate as we navigate the complexities and nuances of pedigree, health, and ethics in the world of competitive dog breeding.

🐕 The International Collaborative on Extreme Conformations in Dogs (ICECDogs) has published a position paper, heavily informed by research from the RVC, that helps owners to recognise good innate health in dogs. The international agreement is the first of its kind and provides a guide for animal caregivers, and the wider public, to identify healthy natural physical characteristics in dogs and to predict and assess potential health and welfare based on body shape. This will help anyone who cares about dogs to understand how likely a dog is to suffer from negative impacts resulting from an extreme conformation.
