Today is International Youth Day which focuses on the difficulties that some young people are experiencing throughout the world.

Half the children between the age of 6 and 13 lack basic reading and math skills and childhood poverty is still a prevalent problem globally. International Youth Day was created by the UN to help draw awareness to these issues as we strive to find solutions. It’s a day for reflection but also a day for taking action so get involved.

Home Start - Dad Matters in West Northamptonshire

Home-Start is a UK-based charity that provides support to families with young children who are facing challenging times. Trained volunteers and experts offer practical help, friendship, and emotional support to parents, helping them build confidence and strengthen their relationships with their children.
Founded in 1973 by Margaret Harrison in Leicester there are around 180 local, independent Home-Starts operating in 71% of local authority areas across the UK.

Since 2017 Dad Matters is a Home Start support service dedicated to helping new and expectant fathers build strong relationships with their families. They focus on attachment and bonding, mental health, and guiding dads to access services that support them deal with the life changing events that come with parenthood.
In West Northamptonshire Dad Matters offer dads to be and dads with children to age 5 one-on-one support, dad and child play and support groups, and dad outreach programs.

V**e Awareness for Parents & Carers
of Young People In West Northamptonshire

Our specialist youth support service for young people in Northamptonshire delivers early intervention and structured treatment to young people to build understanding and raise awareness of substance related harm. We recognise the correlation between va**ng and young people developing harmful habits and are determined to do something about it.
This parent session is open to any parent or carer, living in West Northamptonshire, concerned about va**ng and young people.

The Family Hub aims to provide comprehensive services and support for parents, caregivers, and children, ensuring everyone has access to the help they need.

The Family Hub believe that community services, schools and nurseries play a crucial role in the development and well-being of children, and your involvement in this consultation is vital. Your input will be instrumental in creating a hub that truly meets the needs of our communities as a whole within Northampton.

WEIGHT LOSS MEDICATION
Whilst Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) is available to prescribe, Northamptonshire ICB have asked patients not to contact GP surgeries yet as we are incredibly busy as this time of year and the additional resources required to manage the enquiries will mean we have less time to see other patients. The ICB also need to work with Clinical Colleagues to develop a new specialist weight management service for patients, including training and education of staff with these new medications.
Updates will be published on Northamptonshire ICB website and social media platform.
