Happy Monday...start of a new week. Happy first of the month...start of a new month....oh and happy 1st January....start of a new YEAR. SO many reasons for today to be the day you decide to do better, eat healthier, exercise more, give up cigarettes.....etc etc etc. And if you are doing that.. I get it....but I suggest a better approach is to set yourself realistic targets. Not 'I'm going to cut out ALL junk food FOREVER......but today I am going to eat more fruit and vegetables... You don't have to be perfect all day every day. The Merlin....a wise figure in celtic folklore...he was a bard a magician and the a source of wisdom. Alchemy is now recognised as being the search for the philosophers stone that could transmute....not base metals but people. Its people who are responsible for injustice and lack of balance in the world so to make a better world...where else do you start? This card is inviting you to look at yourself.....your life and deal with imbalances..maybe be honest about sine unjust feelings towards yourself or others. If you want to change your world...start by changing things that are really close.....Namaste

Grounding

The words that came not my mind when I looked at this card were balance, stillness, harmony…

Grounding is important. We need to be grounded, Our thoughts and plans need to be grounded in reality….and its worth remembering that the roots of a tree are grounded in dark damp unpleasant places.The still and beautiful reflection of the tree in the water hides the messy reality of the roots underground.

The tree can only remain still, balanced and in harmony with the landscape , becasue the roots grow down deep into the darkness, and the dampness.

But the darkness is still, the roots keep the tree balanced, and the tree by its nature is in harmony with its surroundings.

But that tree grew over time from a small seed that spent a long time the darkness until it pushed above the ground.

The best plans and projects are like that tree. The message of this card is be patient, stay grounded. What you need will happen in due course

What stands out to me as I look at this image is how the image gets brighter towards the bottom. The tress they are staying under is blocking out a lot of light….and I find myself wondering why they are choosing to play under the tree….but I get the feeling the birds are enjoying their playing.

The message of this card today is that we all have to find our own way of doing things. But things go best when what we are doing is in harmony with our true nature…and in harmony with the nature all around us.

The King

The King embodies justice and authority and male energies. He is holding his sceptre, the symbol of his authority, and his sword , the instrument of justice, is close to hand .He looks as if is getting ready to get up and start taking action. But you know his actions will all be guided by the law and that need for justice.

For me implicit in this image is the Kings stillness ...you get the feeling any action will only be taken after much thought.

The message I get from this card today is if you are seeking justice for yourself or someone else don't rush into action in the heat of the moment. There is a thin line between justice and revenge and crossing that .line will hurt you more than anyone else.
