🚨 Va**ng Linked to Rare & Irreversible Lung Damage — New Medical Findings

Va**ng isn’t just “harmless v***r.”

Doctors are now reporting cases of severe, long-lasting lung injury caused by chemicals and aerosols found in e-cigarettes.

🫁 What researchers are seeing:

• Scarring and permanent damage to the tiny airways
• EVALI (va**ng-associated lung injury) causing sudden breathing failure
• Inflammation so intense it mimics chemical burns
• Cases of bronchiolitis obliterans (“popcorn lung”) in long-term users
• Lipoid pneumonia triggered by inhaled oils
• Heavy metals like nickel, tin, and lead found in v***r clouds

💡 Why it’s dangerous:

E-cigarette v***r isn’t just water. It can contain:

• Toxic flavoring agents
• Superheated chemicals that irritate lung tissue
• Fine particles that reach deep into the lungs
• Additives that build up and cause irreversible scarring

📉 Long-term concern:

Some patients never regain full lung function — even after quitting.

And because va**ng is still relatively new, doctors warn that the long-term damage may be far worse than we currently know.

👉 Your lungs only come in one pair. Protect them.

Think twice before you inhale.

We’ve had a lot of ladies message us asking what we use for our bad joint pains. I can’t recommend this enough, it’s fast acting and can be rubbed in quickly giving instant relief.
Warning though, DO NOT get this in your eyes. It’s said to have a similar affect as pepper spray so never spray in your eyes.

🛡️ CIVIL INCIDENT RESPONSE CHECKLIST

(For Ex-Service or Trained Personnel Acting as Civilians)

1. IMMEDIATE ACTION – UNDER FIRE / ACTIVE THREAT

✅ Assess first – what’s happening, how many attackers, where is the threat?

📞 Call 999 immediately – provide exact location, description of attacker(s), weapons, casualties. METANE if trained

M - Major incident
E - Exact location
T - Time of incident
H - Hazards
A - Access/Egress
N - Number of casualties
E - emergency services on site and or needed

🗣️ Shout clear commands – “Everyone down!”, “Get out!”, “Call 999!”. Your voice can lead people.

🚪 Move to cover / escape routes – get civilians to safety if possible.

⚔️ Engage ONLY if unavoidable – use reasonable, proportionate force to protect life.

Minimum force necessary is the legal standard.

Stop when the threat stops.

🧠 Stay calm and think tactically – observe, plan, communicate.

2. WHEN THREAT IS CONTAINED OR ENDS

🔒 Secure the area – prevent re-entry or interference with the scene.

🚫 Do NOT pursue or punish – that becomes retaliation, not defence.

✋ Detain suspects lawfully if safe:

Use only necessary restraint.

Announce intent: “I’m detaining you under citizen’s arrest until police arrive.”

Call 999 again to confirm arrest and request immediate police presence.

3. MEDICAL RESPONSE – SAVE LIVES

🩸 Assess casualties quickly – shout for anyone trained in first aid.

🚑 Apply pressure to bleeding; use a tourniquet only if trained.

💨 Keep airway clear, monitor breathing, keep victims warm.

⏱️ Prioritise the most severe bleeding / unconscious casualties first.

📦 Use available resources – shirts, belts, scarves for makeshift bandages.

🧾 Record what’s been done (time tourniquet applied, etc.) for paramedics.

ATMIST hand over

A - Age
T - Time
M - Mechanism of injury
I - Injuries sustained
S - Signs and symptoms
T - Treatment given

4. POLICE ARRIVAL

🙋 Identify yourself clearly – hands visible, no weapons.

🗣️ State: “I’m a witness and former military, I assisted in defence and medical aid.”

🧾 Provide concise facts only – what you saw, what you did, sequence of events.

📸 Offer any footage / photos to police only, not social media.

🤝 Cooperate fully – they must confirm your actions were proportionate and lawful.

5. POST-INCIDENT

🧘 Decompress – adrenaline will crash; take time to process.

🩺 Seek medical check-up even if uninjured.

🧠 Document your statement immediately while memory is fresh.

⚖️ Contact legal representation if you used force or detained someone.

💬 Avoid online posting until facts confirmed – focus on helping victims and investigators.

🫡 Provide leadership in aftermath – coordinate support for victims, promote calm, and reinforce community resilience.

⚖️ REMEMBER

> Defence of self and others is lawful. Retaliation or revenge is not. Force must stop when the threat stops.
Your best weapon is control and clarity under pressure.

🕷 If you’ve been bitten by a tick, remove it as soon as possible using a tick removal tool or fine-tipped tweezers. If using fine tipped tweezers grasp. the tick close to the skin and pull upwards steadily. Do not twist or crush the tick, and avoid using heat, oils, or creams.

After removal:
✅ Clean the bite area with antiseptic or soap and water
✅ Record the date and location of the bite
✅ Monitor for symptoms such as a rash, flu-like illness, or fatigue in the following weeks

If you develop any symptoms, contact your GP promptly. Lyme disease is easier to treat in its early stages.

It’s not something people would immediately think of but with the unusually hot weather lately, it’s worth sharing. This baby suffered 2nd degree burns over 30% of his body from being accidentally sprayed with a garden hose.
A garden hose exposed to direct sunlight during summer can heat the water inside the hose (not flowing) to 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit which can cause burns especially to children & animals.
Let the water flow a few minutes to cool before spraying on people or animals.
Also be careful of metal fittings such as on seatbelts.

Current best practice for burns is,

Cool for at least 20 minutes with tepid water
Remove anything not stuck to skin.
Dress with cling film or wet dressings and contact Emergency services.

Do not apply creams or lotions.

🎉 Happy 65th Birthday, Resusci Anne! 🎉

The queen of CPR training, the mannequin with more facelifts than Madonna and still breathing (sort of)… Resusci Anne turns 65 this year! 👵💉🫀

Born in 1960, Annie has helped millions learn the art of bringing people back from the brink — without ever once rolling her eyes or asking for a tea break. Over the years, she’s had a few upgrades (who hasn’t?), but she’s still lying there, chest out, ready to take one for the team. 😅

From classroom floors to ambulance stations across the UK, she’s been pummelled, ventilated, and occasionally left in the corner looking like she’s had a really bad shift… and yet, she never complains.

So here’s to 65 years of squashed noses, broken ribs (training only, we hope), and the woman who taught us all to "check for danger" without ever uttering a word. 💚

Cheers, Annie — you absolute legend. 🥂🫶

Did you know that the HSE guidelines state that employers should ensure their first aiders remain competent to perform their role? As such, it is strongly recommended that first aiders undertake annual refresher training. The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Annual Refresher) (RQF) qualification allows qualified first aiders to update their first aid skills yearly, until requalification training is required. Successful candidates will leave with a renewed confidence, having refreshed the first aid skills needed to deal with emergency situations.
