Breathing Space Yoga

Breathing Space Yoga Welcome to my yoga classes for adults, pregnancy and postnatal, baby yoga and baby massage in Northwich. Friendly, calming classes. Suitable from 14 weeks.

No previous yoga experience necessary. Adult Yoga: Hatha Yoga classes focusing on wonderful alignment principles to help a safe practice and heart opening to empower and uplift. I aim for classes to be supportive of each student as an individual, a balance of energising and relaxing through yoga poses, breath and meditation techniques and above all fun! Meditation, Yoga Nidra and rest:
I teach meditation and yoga nidra relaxations throughout all my classes. I also teach meditation courses and monthly classes for deep rest focussing on restorative yoga, meditation and yoga nidra. Mum and Baby Yoga: Enjoy uninterrupted time with your baby and learn simple movements based on the principles and postures of yoga which will help you and your baby to communicate, bond and best of all relax. Baby yoga is great for building confidence in handling your baby, supporting your baby's natural physical development and helping digestion and sleep issues. Gentle movements will help with postnatal recovery for Mums, and all carers and babies will benefit from a shared experience of relaxation. Classes will provide techniques you can continue to use throughout your baby's development. Above all classes are a place for you and your baby to meet other new parents and I give plenty of time to chat at the start and end of class. Suitable from 6 weeks postnatal. Pregnancy Yoga: My pregnancy yoga classes enable mums to be to take some time out each week to focus on themselves and also connect with their babywearing/ies. Classes are a place to come to relax, unwind, meet other pregnant ladies and to learn how to use yoga both to bring space, stability and confidence in your body and also your mind, in preparation for positive experience of labour, birth and motherhood. I offer plenty of hints, tips and other useful links throughout class and my aim is for everyone to have a positive experience no matter what kind of birth birth journey they take. About Me:

Hi I'm Sarah. I have been practising yoga since 2001 and am a mum to two small boys. I have been teaching since 2013. I took my 200 hour yoga alliance training with Bridget Woods Kramer. I am qualified with Birthlight as a pregnancy, postnatal and baby yoga teacher and I qualified with To Baby and Beyond to teach Baby Massage. I trained to teach meditation with Beanddo, yoga nidra with Yoga Nidra Network and restorative yoga with Adelene Cheong. I have taken many other trainings and workshops and continue to do so as I love to learn new things and pass them on to my students. Classes:

Happy Autumn Equinox! Welcome to the start of Autumn 🍃🍂🍁

In this blog post you'll find some journal prompts as I explore some of the history, stories and images of Autumn Equinox celebrations. I reflect on the qualities of Autumn and how we can use the transition point from Summer to Autumn to help us to reflect on our lives, take time enjoy the slower energies of Autumn, and to set some intentions for the coming months.

There’s a beautiful affirmation and poem and some journal prompts for you including a pdf download.

Find it here: https://www.breathingspace-yoga.com/occasionalthoughtsblog/autumnequinoxjournalprompts

Coming up - transition into Autumn with myself and Gail 🍂 relaxation, guided mindful collaging, you don't have to be naturally creative it's about the process... We look forward to seeing you.

✨🍂 Come and join us for a soul-nourishing evening as we gently transition into Autumn...

🌙 First, I’ll guide you through calming breathwork, yoga nidra relaxation, and mindful journaling — a chance to slow down, connect inward, and release what no longer serves you. No yoga experience needed. We'll listen and share (if you wish) together in circle.

🎨 Then, the wonderful Gail Sargerson from Create for Wellbeing will lead a beautiful mindful collage workshop. With canvas, fabric, leaves, stamps and more — it’s all about the process, not the outcome. You don’t need to be “artistic,” just open to exploring your creativity.

💚 This evening is about rest, reflection, and reconnecting with yourself in a supportive, welcoming and non-judgemental space. You'll leave feeling calmer, lighter, heard and held.

📅 We’d love for you to join us — book your place and gift yourself this time out. 🍂✨

I have several students who have been in my classes since I began teaching, and many have been coming for several years like Eira. It is such a pleasure to have got to know them well, to be able to guide their practice and spend time with them weekly.

I'm honoured they (and all my students) choose to spend their time coming to my classes and am delighted that yoga is as much part of their lives as it is mine.

"I have attended Sarah’s yoga classes for almost ten years, so that is a good sign of how much I value Sarah’s yoga practice and instruction The atmosphere is calm and supportive making it easy to let go and focus. Sarah is genuinely warm and friendly and her teaching style allows for modifications and adjustments to help deepen our practice. "

Have you thought about how you will birth your baby? Studies show that active birth - when you move around freely and assume any position which feels comfortable – but not on your back - can help your birth to be shorter, with less discomfort and less need for medical interventions.

Active birth is the opposite of our TV image of lying on your back with your legs wide and pushing dramatically. Instead Active birth works with your body and your baby, it allows you control, choice and empowerment as you tune into your body and what it needs. It enables a birth that works with gravity.

Active birth will support your labour and birth whether you are at home or in hospital. You can birth actively if you are being monitored or induced. For epidurals that enable you to have some movement you can still birth actively. Active birth means that you can tune into your body and find the most easeful positions and movements for your body as you labour, and for your baby to descend through the pelvis and out into the world.
Active birth includes standing, kneeling, and being on all fours and squatting. It means leaning into the support of furniture, walls, partners, birth equipment such as hanging ropes or birth stools, the edge of the birthing pool. It means making movements if you wish – particularly moving your hips rhythmically.
Active birth supports Optimal Foetal Positioning and embraces gravity to birth our baby. It keeps the base of the pelvis open and free and you may birth your baby in any of the labour positions – standing, squatting, kneeling.
Active birth does not mean you cannot rest! But when you do rest please rest on your left side so that your pelvis is still open and your tailbone can move (which it can’t when you lie on your back)
