Breathing Space Yoga

Breathing Space Yoga Welcome to my yoga classes for adults, pregnancy and postnatal, baby yoga and baby massage in Northwich. Friendly, calming classes. Suitable from 14 weeks.

No previous yoga experience necessary. Adult Yoga: Hatha Yoga classes focusing on wonderful alignment principles to help a safe practice and heart opening to empower and uplift. I aim for classes to be supportive of each student as an individual, a balance of energising and relaxing through yoga poses, breath and meditation techniques and above all fun! Meditation, Yoga Nidra and rest:
I teach meditation and yoga nidra relaxations throughout all my classes. I also teach meditation courses and monthly classes for deep rest focussing on restorative yoga, meditation and yoga nidra. Mum and Baby Yoga: Enjoy uninterrupted time with your baby and learn simple movements based on the principles and postures of yoga which will help you and your baby to communicate, bond and best of all relax. Baby yoga is great for building confidence in handling your baby, supporting your baby's natural physical development and helping digestion and sleep issues. Gentle movements will help with postnatal recovery for Mums, and all carers and babies will benefit from a shared experience of relaxation. Classes will provide techniques you can continue to use throughout your baby's development. Above all classes are a place for you and your baby to meet other new parents and I give plenty of time to chat at the start and end of class. Suitable from 6 weeks postnatal. Pregnancy Yoga: My pregnancy yoga classes enable mums to be to take some time out each week to focus on themselves and also connect with their babywearing/ies. Classes are a place to come to relax, unwind, meet other pregnant ladies and to learn how to use yoga both to bring space, stability and confidence in your body and also your mind, in preparation for positive experience of labour, birth and motherhood. I offer plenty of hints, tips and other useful links throughout class and my aim is for everyone to have a positive experience no matter what kind of birth birth journey they take. About Me:

Hi I'm Sarah. I have been practising yoga since 2001 and am a mum to two small boys. I have been teaching since 2013. I took my 200 hour yoga alliance training with Bridget Woods Kramer. I am qualified with Birthlight as a pregnancy, postnatal and baby yoga teacher and I qualified with To Baby and Beyond to teach Baby Massage. I trained to teach meditation with Beanddo, yoga nidra with Yoga Nidra Network and restorative yoga with Adelene Cheong. I have taken many other trainings and workshops and continue to do so as I love to learn new things and pass them on to my students. Classes:

"A wonderful way to relax on a Monday evening. I've been practising the breathing techniques and am so grateful for the resources Sarah gave us all. Great to meet other mums all at different stages of their pregnancies. I felt a bit emotional at my last session, knowing I'm next to give birth and so my next class will be with my baby! I can't wait, thank you Sarah." Danielle

The importance of your Birth partner

Who you choose to have in your birth space is really important. It is often the baby’s other parent, but it can also be a friend or family member and/or a Birth Doula.

If you birth at home you may have older children around as well as pets. Whoever you choose to be with you needs to be someone you trust, feel safe with and can rely on. They need to advocate for you in the birth space and offer you the support you need from them whenever you need it.

Ensure that you discuss your birth preferences with your birth partner, if you are making decisions together write your birth plans together, so you both know what choices you want to make should you need to, what your preferences are for pain relief and medical interventions should you choose them. Have the birth plan with you for your labour and birth so that you can easily refer to it.

YourBirth partner should be the main communicator with midwives and other medical professionals so that you can focus on yourself and your baby. Your birth partner should check you in if you go into hospital, and they should set up your space (in hospital or at home) so that you have a comfortable environment to labour and birth in – lowering lighting, making space for active birthing, ensuring only the people you want are in your space etc. They will also support you as you need with drinks, massage, physical support, breathing with you or just being quietly there to support you if you want less physical connection.

Help your birth partner to be up to date with all the information you are learning and that resonate with you – books, podcasts etc .

One of the best ways is to attend a class that teaches you skills for birth. I run an antenatal class in Northwich every few months with Kat of – we will help you navigate your individual needs, issues and questions and find the best way for you and your partner to birth whether in hospital or at home.

Growth & Spring Renewal at Rest, Reflect and Reconnect today. 🌸

We shared objects that represent growth, enjoyed morning pages courtesy of The Artist's Way, and some journaling prompts and sharing about growth and where we feel stuck in our businesses and lives.

Oh and a lovely yoga Nidra relaxation to support our spring energy and renewal. 💤

Words shared at the end of the session - 'happy'. 'calm'. 'energised' 💕

If you're interested in coming to April's gathering please go to my bio or website for info on my monthly Self Employed Women's sessions in Northwich

The stories behind the poses...

We are currently enjoying some of the wonderful and fantastical Indian myths, stories, cultural and yoga traditions behind some of the most common yoga poses that we explore in class. This has led us to meet Gods and Goddesses, touch on religions borne from Indian culture and traditions, tap into some of the stories within the Indian Epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata and see how this all intrinsically links and connects to our yoga practices.

I hope that you are enjoying this as much as I am! I've been using Yoga Mythology - 64 asanas & their stories above as our main inspiration - Devdutt Pattanaik is a mythologist, writer, illustrator, and speaker known for explaining the relevance of Indian and World mythology in modern times. Matthew Rulli is an American Yoga teacher and offers photos of the poses and variations and insights into their benefits.

My yoga classes are not just for your body. They are also for your mind.

Yoga movement and poses help to stretch your body. ease out aches and pains, release tensions and help you to feel steady and grounded.

But yoga also promotes mindfulness and this is one of the main focuses I have across all my classes. I encourage you to feel the effects of the yoga you do on your internal landscape as well as your outer body. I encourage you to notice when your mind calms - perhaps when you are focusses on the breath or on a balance. I also encourage you to notice when the mind is busy and doesn't settle easily. Then you can use the practices in class to help to gently bring yourself to both a relaxed body and mind.

You can join my yoga classes in Northwich at anytime - block bookings and single classes available. I am available for a chat if you'd like to find out more - or head to my website.
