“The dragonfly dances between worlds—
still as silence, quick as thought.
A symbol of transformation,
it reminds us to be light,
to be present,
and to see beyond illusion.”

Inspired by time at the dragonfly pond today. Meditation and play time in the sun.

🌿 There’s a unique pleasure in feeling the soles of our feet directly connected to the earth, isn’t there? No shoes, no barriers—just the raw terrain beneath. Walking barefoot on grass, feeling the coolness of the earth, the warmth of the sun, or even the sensation of wet or dry ground—it’s like a dialogue between the body and nature. 🌍

With each step, my feet naturally adjust, breathe, and recalibrate. This instinctual correction is not just physical; it’s a reminder of how deeply interconnected we are with our surroundings. Our bodies, just like the earth, have this innate intelligence, guiding us back to balance. Science tells us that this is because of something called “grounding”—the way direct contact with the earth allows us to absorb electrons, potentially reducing inflammation and improving sleep.

And in yoga, we talk about grounding the root chakra, the energy center that connects us to the earth, helping us feel stable and present. In a way, walking barefoot is a simple yet powerful meditation—an alignment of body, mind, and earth. 🌱

So next time you step outside, let your feet feel the terrain, let them navigate, breathe, and expand with every step. 🌞

Reconnect and call your power back.

Utkata Konasana (Goddess Pose or Horse Stance) is a super grounding pose to help us when life, seasons, the universe and general life s**t gives us the wobbles.

Combined with breathing into and from the Hara (situated approx 3 cms under the navel and 3cms into the abdomen) we can revitalise our energy field. Get out into nature for the triple whammy and bed yourself into a solid, stable, invigorated foundation.

There is underlying order,
despite random acts of cosmic chaos.
To give into flow without thinking but feeling,
we accept our place amid the chaos.
From the well of spontaneity springs divine synchronicity.
And the internal compass points toward infinite possibility.

I opened ‘The Yoga Almanac’ by Lisette Cheresson and Andrea Rice to this page this morning and it couldn’t been more beautifully fitting.

With the current solar activity I’ve noticed a strong shift in collective emotions from heightened anger and anxiety, feelings of perceived doom and threat to lethargy and inertia. Some students and friends have experienced a shift in consciousness and s feeling of ‘everything is going to be ok’ and excited for what may be to come.

The season of Ta**us invites us to ground ourselves, rooted in earth energy, we give birth to our hopes, dreams and our true heart’s desire. We manifest resources, whatever that may mean to us, love, shelter, oil, air, food or even money and possessions that are of value to you.

The skies and the cosmos are very busy transforming and alchemising right now…..how has this translated in your body, heart and mind and how are you staying grounded? What is your true heart’s desire?

In the duality of all creation, existence and destruction, may we come to accept and explore the dance of Yin and Yang with an open heart and mind.

There is science in magic and magic in science and a whole other world in between.

We’ll know the answers one day but not in this earthly experience.

Do you sway to the mystical or the scientific or do you surf the waves between?

I’ve had times in my distant past where I have avoided my yoga practice because the feels we’re too big at the end of class. Being encouraged to ‘relax’ in Savasana was too big of an ask when my system felt pumped full of emotion. It was the strangest thing, I arrived in a good mood, excited to move my body, thoroughly enjoyed my practice and then in the stillness and silence of Savasana, the tears would just flow.
Then the mind starts…..’why am I sad all of a sudden’?
‘Why is my stomach churning’?
‘Why can’t I keep still’!
‘Why is it suddenly hard to breath’?
Does everyone else know that I’m crying or think me strange’?
‘What if I make a noise’?
‘What if I spoil someone else’s practice’?
‘I bet everyone else is super chilled and relaxed’

Before I knew it, class had ended and I was entirely caught up in my mind stuff and the body super vigilant and resistant and FAR FROM RELAXED.

Fast forward through several years of dedicated teaching and learning, I realise how completely normal AND HEALTHY allowing the tears to flow is.

There are numerous reasons for why we may release emotions through our tears during and post practice. Some are chemical, biological and/or physiological but often it is simply our souls sighing magnificently in relief. Thanking us for finally listening.

Our experience in Savasana may not always resonate as positive and that is completely normal. Instead of trying to ‘relax’ aim to surrender and remember always to find a space that feels supportive to you.

ALL THOUGHTS ARE WELCOME
ALL FEELINGS ARE WELCOME
ALL SOUNDS ARE WELCOME

Salt water is our best healer so let those tears flow.
