Do you have ribs flaring? Quite commonly seen in postnatal mums, but not exclusive. The ribs may be flaring due to poor control and strength in the abdominals.
The ribs position will be pointing upwards and the pelvis pointing downwards, creating that arch to the lower back. With lack of control to the abdominals, Re**us diastasis can be more difficult to engage back together. The pelvic floor isn’t rising and lowering with the breathing. So you could be noticing also pelvic floor dysfunction.
The first place to start in recorrecting the rib flare is taking a 360 breath. Deep breathing into the whole cylinder rather than forcing the belly just upwards. We looking for the back muscles, ribs and pelvic floor to be apart of this breathe.
Once our breathe is more expansive we can look into involving exercises to bring the bottom of the ribs down and the pelvis tilting under slightly. Think dead bug exercises with the space between those two areas nipped together.
Also the mid back and chest can be extremely tight and lack mobility so thinking about creating space here too.
All these things can help to improve the rib flare, better control of the abdominals and more mobility to the mob back and chest.
