Dear David
This email is a brief ‘thank you’ for conducting the service for Dad, Maurice Welch, on Friday the 5 December at the Birches Crematorium in Cheshire. We spoke on Saturday morning.
The family are incredibly grateful for the time you spent beforehand, with mum (along with me and Robin) in preparation, but more importantly for the service itself. It was a perfectly judged tone, dad was not one for fuss, he was as you said, reserved, and you captured that perfectly.

Pete, Helen and Jenna from the Birches team were proud to attend the ‘Light up a life’ service at St Luke's Cheshire Hospice in Winsford on Sunday.
Birches are so proud to once again support this event and Pete was honoured to be ask to read a poem during the service.

Hi David, we are now back home on the sunny Algarve!
We wanted to thank you for all your help and support in arranging such a wonderful ‘farewell’ for my dear dad, Alan Lloyd.
It certainly was a challenge arranging from a distance but along with Emma from George Bell your friendly approach made it much less stressful.
On the day itself you put Millie, Marcus, Poppy and myself at ease making it less daunting for us all to speak and in Millie’s case sing.
We are sure dad would have enjoyed his ‘farewell’ as much as we all did!

The Portugal “touch” was special too when we gave him a hearty round of applause as the curtains closed… and what about the sunshine that came over from Portugal right on cue as we left the crematorium!!♥️

I'm not sure whether it is easy to find the recommendations on Facebook, but over the last couple of years, some folks have kindly added a recommend, and I sincerely appreciate their thoughtfulness. Today's comes from Mark. I took the service for his dad yesterday and it was a truly special occasion. Here's the text I received this morning.
"Good morning David, just wanted to thank you again for yesterday. You did dad proud and I cannot thank you enough. The service was the perfect send off for the legend. Everyone made comment after about how you made it so great. A huge thank you from all of the family"

Been a busy week and I’ve still a funeral and burial to officiate at. However, I received this lovely message on Tuesday: Hi David, I hope you are well. I cannot begin to say how grateful & thankful we are, as a family, for your wonderful words yesterday. We asked for it to be a mix of religion & celebration & you got it spot on. Having you stood at the front put us all at ease & being there with [L] definitely helped her.
We loved the way you spoke about Mum as if you had known her. It was so personal, we really did appreciate it. All our family & friends said what a wonderful service it was….So thank you again for your caring professionalism. It meant the world to our family.
Thank you. It was a privilege to be there for such a lovely family. Your mum was a really gorgeous person in every way.

We were told that the choice of celebrant is key and we got that right. Everything afterwards was down to you. You never met my dad, but you’d have got on!
Thanks again for giving him the best possible send off.
No one could have done it better."

Very special feedback from a family who wanted to be sure they had selected the correct celebrant for their late father. It meant that we met for coffee first to talk before the family felt comfortable that I was the 'right fit' for their dad's service.

Today I received this lovely feedback from the family of a gentleman who was 102 years old when he passed away recently. I remember seeing him and his wife a number of times when I took services at a village Methodist chapel not far from home. So it was a real privilege to be asked to take his service today. He lived not far from my home and loved the view from his back window, so the final piece of music played at the service was appropriately Blondie's "Picture This" with the line, “All I want is a room with a view!"

I might have been quiet on Facebook and Instagram, but I’ve been busy at work. Indeed, I’ve had quite a lot of different types of service to look after. One was for a very active and capable man of 104 years! Another was for a chap who overcame some significant challenges in life. And the daughter of an elderly lady was so pleased with how her mum’s service went that she sent me the following email:

Dear David,
Thank you for doing Mum’s service yesterday, it was everything I hoped for. It wasn't sadness at losing Mum, it was a celebration of her life and came over as such. You made it very personal, as if you had known Mum. It was lovely. I can't tell you how happy I was. Thank you once again.

And from someone else about her dad’s service, and this was sent to the Funeral Director and me:

Dear David and Beverley

Heartfelt thanks for doing such a great job organising my Dad's funeral. I am so glad and relieved with how it went and very grateful to you both.

The service was very warm David and you hit just the right note. Particularly touched by the kind words you said to my daughter when she was crying - tears of love indeed. My Nana and Dad's sister were also very happy with how it went.

You both made a hard time a bit easier - dare I say it even a nice experience. I'm very grateful.

Lovely words received from the family of a fellow biker who recently died. His service was yesterday and the “music” we left the crematorium to was a recording from 1957-1961 of Murray Walker at the IOM TT. His narration and the glorious sound of motorbikes, perfectly suited the service for this gentleman.
“On behalf of Robin, myself and the family I just wanted to say thank you.
The ceremony today was perfect and reflected Dad so perfectly and at the same time it also included Mum allowing us all to remember Dad, Mum, Pop and Grandma Jean and the happy times.
The tribute was so nicely crafted by yourself and the motorcycling connection with yourself was just meant to be.
Finally I’m sorry to say but the sound of the Manx Norton does trump the BMW’s and Japanese machines and that final sound track left a smile on everyone’s face.
Once again Thank You from all of us.”
The Norton is still owned by the family but it’s not the one in my picture.

Pleased to report that I passed my Advanced Motorcycle test tonight with IAM RoadSmart. I use my bike for work most days and wanted to be safer on the roads and motorways. I highly recommend the course to everyone. They do advanced for car drivers too.
