Some news that has nothing to do with funerals, but something I'm delighted to have accomplished and be able to share.

On Monday, I completed all the requirements to become a volunteer Blood Biker with Shropshire • Staffordshire • Cheshire Blood Bikes . I look forward to being of real use to the charity.

I was out around the Cheshire, Wirral, Liverpool area being taken to some of the places I will likely be collecting from and delivering to. I saw where a couple of the bikes are kept, how to check them over and prepare for a shift, and one of the places for a coffee!! My thanks to all the team and especially those involved in helping me understand what’s what!

The link takes you to the SSCBB page where you can find out more about the work and how to support it, if you wish.😊
100% volunteer service, providing free urgent transportation of blood & other medical supplies to NHS trusts in Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.

I'm always grateful and thankful for the lovely folks who take the time to write a review and recommend me on Facebook. Today I'm especially blown away given that the review is just hours after the service I took at Macclesfield Crematorium... unlike the photo, the chapel was packed to capacity and so quite a few people had to stand outside and watch on the screens.
My heart goes out to Karen, Emma and Hannah and all the family, and I sincerely thank them for entrusting Mark's service to me.

Take a look by using the Mentions and Review tabs.

Hello David....Thank you so very much for such a lovely service. You helped to make the process so much easier for us and you have been so kind and thoughtful . Thank you for reading with such empathy and supporting us all from start to finish. We’ve had such lovely feedback from the people there today and those who watched online. Take care now and thank you so much again. From Linda, Steve and family x

Linda is a teacher in a school I worked at during my time as a Learning Mentor. The service was for Steve's late mother, and I'm so thankful for the lovely feedback received from the family. ❤️
THANK YOU Linda, Steve and Family for such special words of thanks. 🙏

Phew, what a week of services! Six in all, taking me to St Helen's Crematorium, Walton Lea in Warrington, Birches Crematorium & Remembrance Park Vale Royal Crematorium and Tabley Cemetery in Knutsford. Two of the services were for companies I've not worked with before, Graham Tresidder & Son - Crewe & Nantwich Funeral Services and Unsworth’s Funeral Service, the others were for Prescot and also Warrington Coop, Dodgson and Bell, and Pope Funeral Services.
The two new company funerals were for a local gravedigger's father, (I've known the son for ten years), whilst the other came about because I had been spotted in action at another funeral and the widow asked me to officiate at her late husband's funeral.
Of course, every service is unique and every person special to their family. As I've said before, it is a tremendous privilege to help families at one of the hardest times they ever have to face.

Today, I attended my seventh funeral this week and played piano, leading worship at the funeral of a lady I knew from the church I attend, King's Church Frodsham. My wife and I are good friends with the family and I was blessed no end to be asked to provide the music for the service.

My sincere thanks to each and every family that entrusted the service of their loved one to me. ♥️

The photo is Tabley Cemetery Chapel, Knutsford, where I took the service for my gravedigger friend's late father.

Morning David,
We just wanted to say a really big thankyou for such a lovely service yesterday. It felt very personal and a true reflection of his life and personality.
Many people who we spoke to commented on how they enjoyed the service and the celebration of his long life.

What a lovely email to have received this morning! It is from the family of a gentleman I had met a few years ago when I arranged the funeral service for his late wife. The family heard that I now take services and I sincerely thank them for entrusting such an important occasion to me.

Today I was at Walton Lea Crematorium, Warrington. I had previously met the family at a local pub to discuss the service. Anyway, a few hours after returning home from the crematorium today, having taken the service for a gentleman, I received the following text, which I sincerely thank the family for.

Hi David. Thanks for all you did for us today, quite a few people thought you must have known my Dad which shows that you were definitely the right person to officiate 👍. It all went really well and your input was a big part of that. Thanks again. Andrew (more people should meet in a pub - it worked for us).

Recently I have had the privilege of taking services at a number of venues around Cheshire and further North. One was for a funeral director's mum who died unexpectedly and only in her 60s. That took me to the lovely Green Acre Rainford venue on the outskirts of St Helens. The grounds and the building are stunning!
Most of the services I take are in Warrington, Manchester, and nearer to home at Vale Royal Crematorium and Birches Crematorium & Remembrance Park. We are certainly blessed with some wonderful venues in the North West.

I received an unusual message the other day asking if I could take over from another celebrant who was unable to look after the new time for a service. I was pleased to be able to do so and, in so doing, support both the funeral director and the family they were helping. It all happened within a few days and took me to St Helen's Crematorium.
I'm always happy to help if I can, even at the last minute, and am grateful for the trust built up with all the funeral companies I work with.

To David… Thank You Very Much! “Oh gosh, where do I start? Your kindness, humour and just everything made such a difference to our very sad time.
You were the light we needed to make sure we did Mum proud on her day. Your support and love will never be forgotten, you just made all the difference.
Lots of love S&S J xx”
Wow! What a lovely thank you! ❤️

Dear David
This email is a brief ‘thank you’ for conducting the service for Dad, Maurice Welch, on Friday the 5 December at the Birches Crematorium in Cheshire. We spoke on Saturday morning.
The family are incredibly grateful for the time you spent beforehand, with mum (along with me and Robin) in preparation, but more importantly for the service itself. It was a perfectly judged tone, dad was not one for fuss, he was as you said, reserved, and you captured that perfectly.
Thank you again.
Duncan Welch & on behalf of Vi and Robin

My sincere thanks to this lovely family for their kind words. 🤍

Pete, Helen and Jenna from the Birches team were proud to attend the ‘Light up a life’ service at St Luke's Cheshire Hospice in Winsford on Sunday.
Birches are so proud to once again support this event and Pete was honoured to be ask to read a poem during the service.
