Top tips to help combat loneliness for older people. 🧡

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as caring for our physical health.

Feeling connected is vital to good mental health, especially in later life. In our latest blog, we focuses on loneliness in elderly people, exploring the causes, how it impacts people, and the small acts of kindness that can make a big difference.

Our Marie has enjoyed visiting our book corner with our Wellbeing Coordinator and picking herself out a thriller book to read at night time which Marie has already enjoyed starting to read!📚📖

We have had another lovely morning at our monthly 'Dementia Coffee Morning'! We have had so lots of lovely involvement from our residents, relatives and the community😊

Our coffee mornings really bring everybody together and we have opportunities to meet our staff and residents, have a walk around our beautiful home or ask any questions you may have!🧡

Thank you to everybody who came today, we can't wait for our next one and a special thank you to our kitchen team for providing us with such amazing treats!🎂🍰

Our next coffee morning will be Tuesday 4th November, 10.30am - 12pm, we hope to see you there!🩷

Our Margaret, Iris, and another of our ladies have enjoyed a lovely trip out to our local town centre for some retail therapy!🧡

We have had a lovely afternoon together doing some Autumnal shopping, looking at Halloween decorations and shopping for some midnight snacks!🥰☺️

Our first trip to Knowsley Safari Park!🦏🦁🦭

We have had an amazing day today full of laughter and memories! We enjoyed driving around the park to see some of our favourite animals and get up close, followed by a picnic in the park. We then joined in with the saloon talk and saw the sea lions swimming around and showing us tricks! We then had a walk around and saw birds of prey, meerkats, giraffes and much more, took a trip to the park and then sat down to rest with a warm drink and cakes!🧡

Today has definitely been a day to remember and our residents have loved every minute of it🥰🥰

Today we celebrated National day of Arts in Care Homes with a Creativemojo art session held by our Wellbeing Coordinator🩵

We have created a beautiful piece of art to raise awareness for World Alzheimer’s month which holds a very special place in our hearts at Acorn Meadow. We created this piece full of ‘Forget Me Not’ flowers to showcase within our home, we are so proud of our artwork and we can’t wait to show it off!🥰💜

We have had a lovely morning at our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning today!💚

It was so lovely to see so many relatives come to join us and their loved ones! We have all had a beautiful morning coming together to raise money for Macmillan and we have loved every minute of it.💚
