We like to get everyone involved in our activities and yesterday was no exception. It was fantastic to see both residents and families playing balloon tennis. There was plenty of laughter and a lot of friendly competition 😊

Our residents enjoyed being creative the other day. After being inspired by our RSPB birdwatch afternoon we created some birds of our own. We used paper squares to create our mosaic birds and there were lots of discussions about colour choices and whether birds were that colour or not. In the end Betty decided it didn't matter as long as they were colourful 😊

The ladies and gents had a peaceful Friday afternoon making blankets. We were gifted some beautiful knitted and crocheted squares which we decided to use to make blankets.
Colin was saying how it reminded him of sewing carpets together when he worked as a carpet fitter!

We had a wonderful afternoon revisiting all our favourite farmyard songs today. Jo Jingles brought the music and the bubbles and our residents brought the singing and the laughter!
Geoff was in fine voice naming all the songs just from the picture cues!

Look how busy we've been this afternoon!

First we did some baking. Ann, our residents scientist, was in charge of weighing out the ingredients. Then Betty, Sylvia and Ken all took turns to mix. Ken talked about how it reminded him of when he was in the Scouts and used to do the cooking. Betty talked about how she used to bake bread and how it made her home smell delicious!

Next we made use of a very generous donation of flowers and had a go at arranging them. Sylvia talked about which flowers looked good together and really took her time arranging them.

It was Jitterbug Wednesday yesterday when Tom O'Neill came to perform for us.
Our feet were tapping and our hands were clapping as we sang along to popular hits from the 1950s and 1960s.
Tom even did some Tommy Cooper jokes which had our residents laughing. It was a great afternoon which we all enjoyed.

We're keeping up the good work in January with our exercise classes. This week Kelly got the weights out and made us all work a little bit harder!
It was lovely to see the lounge full of residents and families joining in. Our residents love choosing the music they work out to, this week it was Elvis Presley 😊
