Introducing , the first Monday of each month, we will be sharing a story from a Mum in our Mothernomics Program.
Today meet Latifa who is a widowed mother of 2 children. She is apart of our MOM program in Kabul, Afghanistan.

She said, “As a widowed mother, I have found Mothernomics to have been an invaluable experience, as a result, it has changed my life in a way I would not have been able to achieve without it. By embarking on this journey, I have gained not only excellent tailoring and sewing skills but also transformed my despair into hope and my dependency into independence with the help of the money I earn and being involved in an empowering women-tailored industry.”

LFT education programme for orphaned children in Dashte Barchi Kabul

Education is the most critical tool to empowerment and too often that opportunity too many young lives are deprived of.

Orphaned children enrolled in primary education - the LFT has tutored enrolled and supported 50 orphaned children since 2021 in school.

In addition to formal school, LFT support this group of children with after-school program teaching life skill and providing mental health support to children and their families.

Since 2022 the LFT also established an Early Childhood Development program for children age 4-6 with pre-school activities. Currently total of 30 mainly orphaned children are enrolled in two groups for this activity.

Your supoort ensures that these young lives are transformed though their education whilst their mothers gain skills at mothernomics in sewing, literacy numeracy and emotional development well-being.

LFT Afghanistan - Dashte Barchi Kabul

Today may be the final Friday of the Holy month of Ramadhan, let’s use this unique opportunity to do a little more to assist those most in need.

In Afghanistan the LFT supports widowed mothers in the mothernomics program so they can lead independent lives and actively enables students to excel in studies from nursey education to secondary school for boys and girls.

This month we have increased support for the most vulnerable families to receive a food parcel to break their fast with dignity.
