treatment for varicose veins at Bishops Wood Hospital

We’re pleased to share that the first radiofrequency ablation (RFA) procedure for varicose veins has now been carried out at Bishops Wood Hospital by Mr Shanka Benaragama, Consultant Vascular Surgeon.

Varicose veins happen when veins in the legs stop working properly, causing blood to collect and leading to symptoms like aching, swelling and visible veins.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a modern, minimally invasive treatment that uses gentle heat to close the affected vein. Blood then naturally flows through healthier veins instead.

Compared with traditional vein surgery, this treatment usually means smaller incisions, less discomfort and a quicker recovery for patients.
