Spring has (just about) arrived in Norfolk this week. And our highways team has now officially declared that is over! ⛄
That means no more gritter runs for a few months
👏 But let’s take a moment to look back at our and the incredible work that went into keeping Norfolk moving over the past few months:
❄️ 55 gritters were on the road, each with their own name
❄️ 578 entries were received for the “Name Our Gritters” competition
❄️ Over 2,000 grit bins across Norfolk were filled twice during the season
❄️ 48 gritting routes were covered across the county
❄️ 45 full gritting runs were completed
❄️ Operations ran from 7 salt barns across Norfolk
❄️ 11,000 tonnes of salt were used (that's about 4 Olympic sized swimming pools)
❄️ 99,000 miles of roads were gritted (the same as driving from Norwich to London and back over 350 times!)
🌤️ We’re already making preparations for the next , but for now let’s enjoy the warmer weather throughout Norfolk Spring and Summer!
