A great way to spend time with friends or to make new ones is at a group or club. You could pick something based on the hobbies you already have, (such as a book club if you like reading) or try something completely new. There are a wide variety of clubs in Norfolk, for things like sports, arts and music and even gaming. There is also a great community at the local Parkruns. You can run, walk or volunteer and they are on every Saturday at 9am. (You will likely see our receptionist Keanna with her family at Catton Parkrun most weekends!)

Prioritise face-to-face time with your friends and family, without screens or distractions. One way to do this (From Dr Rangan Chatterjee’s book Feel Better in 5) is a ‘Tea Ritual’ where you stop what you are doing at a fixed time each day, and make a cup of herbal tea together. Sit down, make eye contact and talk together. Find out about each other’s days and actively listen. With our theme this month being managing stress, what a better choice for book of the month than The Stress Solution by Dr Rangan Chatterjee. Filled with so many practical tips in different areas, all aimed at reducing the impact stress has on us all. Yoga and tai chi are both really useful ways to help manage stress. You could try a local class, or there are thousands of online resources. Our receptionist Keanna first got into yoga by doing follow along videos on YouTube at home. With a busy family and work life it can be hard to find the time to go to a class, but even 10 minutes while the kids are distracted (or joining in!) can really help to reduce the whole family’s stress levels.
