When coming for a massage treatment, Ideally something you are comfortable in (no, I don’t mind pjs 😊

but here are a few tips...

▫️Loose and light clothes that are easy to remove.
There’ll also be a little oil left on your skin after treatment which is worth bearing in mind.

▫️For the girls, it’s preferable that you wear a conventional bra with a back fastening so you can easily undo it when lying down.

▫️If you’re having your back or glutes treated, please try to avoid high waisted trousers as they don’t roll down particularly well.

▫️Shoes that are easy to slip on and off

▫️Shorts - the shorter the better! If I’m treating hamstrings, quads or hip flexors, ideally I need to be able to expose the whole length of the muscle.
Stretchy is also good as they roll up better.

▫️Stretchy clothes are good incase we do any assisted stretching. Jeans for example aren’t the best choice of trouser if we were stretching your legs.

▫️Honestly many clients come in pyjamas and if you have a late evening appointment and plan to get straight into bed when your home then this will be perfect for you. No judgement from me it’s all about being time efficient!

▫️Please remember that the areas I’m not working on will always be covered with a towel.

▫️Always feel free to ask if your ever unsure ▫️

Something I will always advise my clients is that you may feel achey the day after your treatment. This is a very normal response, especially if your having deep tissue massage, as the techniques used go deeper into the muscles and are often targeted towards a problem area. This soreness can feel like delayed onset muscle soreness and may be experienced if you don't use the muscles often or do not have a massage frequently.
This is because the muscles have been manipulated in ways that they're not used to for the duration of your treatment.

Things that may help reduce soreness are

▫️Stay well hydrated before and following your massage.

▫️Don't do anything too strenuous for the 24 hours following your treatment.

▫️Keep mobile and do some gentle stretches.

Plantar Fasciitis

Our plantar fascia is used all the time, so sometimes this can cause pain in our heels and middle of the foot.

The Pain usually develops gradually over time and can be a full ache or sharp pain.

The pain is usually worse when getting out of bed in the morning.

Symptoms include
🦶🏼Pain in the heel
🦶🏼Foot pain that is worse in the morning
🦶🏼Pain that occurs when standing and walking
🦶🏼Tightness in the calf and Achilles.

Regular massage on the lower legs and feet, dry cupping and hot stones are all beneficial to help recover from injury.

Things you can do at home

☑️maintain a healthy weight

☑️active rest from things that aggravate the pain such as changing to low impact activities such as swimming.

☑️Wear shoes/trainers with a good arch support

You've all probably heard of
'Rotator Cuff'

But do you really know what it is?

The Rotator Cuff is a group of muscles found at the shoulder, which keeps the upper arm in it's socket.
It is made up of 4 muscles
▪️ Supraspinatus - which keeps the humerus in place, stabilises the upper arm & helps lift the arm.
▪️ Infraspinatus - which rotates & extends the shoulder.
▪️ Subscapularis - this holds the humerus to the scapula & helps to rotate the arm, holds the arm straight out & lowers the arm.
▪️ Teres minor - which assists with rotation of the arm away from the body.

Common injuries include tendinitis (inflammation/ irritation of one of the tendons), bursitis (irritated bursa) & strains (from partial tears to full ruptures of the muscles/tendons).

These conditions can be treated (depending on the severity) with a combination of active rest, massage, heat and cold therapies, stretching & strengthening exercises and cupping therapy.

We all get those 'niggles' but if you are experiencing shoulder pain, don't put it off!

Regular massage therapy is the way to a "new you"🤍

Our feet bear the weight of the whole body.

They take the impact of our weight of our entire bodies through daily tasks, exercising and training.

We use our feet in nearly all activities we take part in. And they are the least pampered/looked after parts of our bodies.

We all need some TLC on our tootsies! 🤍👣
