When people are unwell be that physically or mentally (or maybe both) they can get irritable and frustrated by how they feel.

Dad said to me this morning that the more I speak loud the less he will do. I was encouraging him to get up and into his chair. He is hard of hearing and I do speak quite loud anyway. I didn't take what he said it to heart as he didn't mean it.

Caring takes patience and persistence and I am certainly learning a lot and admire anyone working in the care in the community industry as well as non paid carers. πŸ‘

It's not a nice thing seeing an elderly parent upset especially when a conversation is being had about their care plan. It is upsetting but it's beneficial for everyone to know what's going on as it lessens anxiety and worry.

Losing Liz has hit dad very hard being a parent. He speaks about her a lot and this morning he was talking to a couple of community nurses about the noises she made during the last week of her life.

I suppose what I am trying to get across is that death comes to us all at some point and to have an understanding of the care you will receive can be of some comfort.

Dad continues to push on the best he can and I am glad I am retired so that I can come over and do my bit to care for him. πŸ’•

What do you say to am 87 year old dad when he says it should be me buried there and not a daughter of his? Dad says that often and I never know what to say back. I explain how poorly she was with her cancer and that unfortunately it got her despite her coping with it so well. I'm not a parent but I'm one of dad's 6 remaining children and I do say to him that we are here....

Bought dad these flowers over this morning. As he sleeps downstairs it's nice to make his space colourful especially when he's feeling poorly. Bright colours cheer people up and flowers do seem to boost people's mental health tooπŸ’

Went do a family BBQ this afternoon to celebrate my nephew's upcoming 3rd birthday on Monday. Took him something that Liz asked me to give to him. He will open that on his birthday. It felt odd she wasn't with us this afternoon because she would have loved it....πŸ’•
