Buddhist Ethics are rooted in the principle of non-violence. The First Precept is:

I undertake to abstain from killing.
With deeds of loving kindness I purify my body.

Join Satyadaka for this month’s Men’s Buddhist Workshop, where we will be exploring the first Precept through a poem called The Pipe of Peace.

These mornings are open to all men with an interest in or practice of Buddhism and there is no need to book – just come along.

Do we take ourselves a little too seriously as Buddhists? 😬

What if spiritual practice could include more play and more laughter?

You're invited to a very special day of exploration where meditation meets movement improvisation, writing and even clowning! Together we'll experiment with fresh ways of meeting ourselves and each other. We'll explore what rings lightness, what feels heavy and discover how all of it can deepen and enrich our practice.

Led by Jayacitta, with 25 years of somatic awareness, physical theatre, improvisation and clowning, and Sarvananda, writer of comedy stories and radio plays with a love of the meeting point between Buddhism, comedy and play, this day invites you to rediscover the spiritual life as something embodied, creative and alive.

Suitable for anyone already acquainted with our two meditation practices, come ready to move, reflect and connect.

Booking via our website.

As Dharma Practitioners, do we take ourselves very seriously? Maybe too seriously?

We invite you to a a very special day exploring how we can dance with life, and in our spiritual practice. In exercises taken from movement improvisation, writing and clowning we will meet in fresh ways in a community of fellow practitioners. There will be time to talk about what brings us lightness, or makes us feel heavy, and all of this will lead to and enrich our meditation practice.

Jayachitta has 25 years of experience in exploring somatic awareness and is highly trained in physical theatre, improvisation, and clowning. These practices are very important to her as additional approaches to the spiritual life, as they are based in physical expression and play. Sarvananda has written many comedy stories and radio plays and is also very interested in the links between Buddhism, comedy and 'lila' – or play.

The day is suitable for anyone who is acquainted with our two meditation practices. Booking via our website.

Your mind is running your life. It shapes your stress, your joy, your reactions, your relationships, whether you realise it or not. What if you could actually train it? What if calm, confidence and emotional strength weren’t distant ideals, but practical skills you could learn?

Foundations of Meditation is a powerful six-week journey into the heart of Buddhist practice. Drawing on 2,500 years of wisdom, this course will give you real tools to work with your thoughts rather than be driven by them. You’ll discover how to cultivate deep calm and concentration, and how to build emotional resilience that transforms the way you live.

Led by Sujana, one of the most experienced meditation teachers at the Norwich Buddhist Centre, this course is dynamic, supportive and tailored to the people in the room. Whether you’re completely new, practising with an app, or ready to reset your foundations, the time is now.

Set in the sacred space of the Norwich Buddhist Centre, where meditation has been practised for 50 years, you won’t be doing this alone. You’ll be part of a vibrant, welcoming community that will support and inspire you every step of the way.

Six weeks can change your relationship with your mind for life. Don’t wait. Join us and begin. 🧘‍♂️✨

For the second of our womens' mitra gatherings, we will be discussing Sangharaksh*ta's poem 'Four Gifts' - the theme of this year. Conversation Cafes are a good way of exploring the Dharma in small groups, a new group forming with each question.

The morning is open to all women mitras and Order Members. By donation, but please book.

The Buddha tells us that Nirvana is nowhere other than here! How can we make sense of this when our reality is that life is often difficult and painful. Is it really possible to experience here and now as a lotus paradise?

Small steps can certainly take us in that direction when we step back from the prapaùca (the mental proliferation) that creates the worry and disturbance of our mind. Join Vajraguptā for an online morning of silent meditation and a short talk.

Book via our website.

You are invited to join us this Sunday to reflect on the Buddha’s passing into nirvana, as well as reflecting on our own death and the death of loved ones. Reflecting on death benefits our mind. When we acknowledge finitude—of our capacity, our energy, our time—we bring into focus what is most important. Not at some point in the future. Right now.

The day will include an introductory talk, puja, meditation, and advice from The Tibetan Book of the Dead.

All are welcome to come to this special event. By donation but please book.
