Join us this Wednesday as we'll continue to explore the rich and beautiful image of the golden net from Sangharaksh*ta's poem Four Gifts. We will be reflecting on what the golden net might symbolise and how we can incorporate it into our lives and practice.

Our Meditation Nights are open to all levels of experience, with guided meditation for beginners and a more lightly led session for more experienced practitioners. There's no need to book, but please arrive at 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

Join Vajraguptā for this month's Women's Mitra Morning, where she'll be exploring the teachings of Machig Labdron.

This enlightened Buddhist teacher is closely associated with the Prajnaparamita wisdom texts, which she mastered in her youth. She had three children and lived to a great age. Her teachings reflect her pe*******on of the Heart of Wisdom and yet they are practical reflections for us to dwell on. What is it that prevents us from seeing and understanding our mind? This morning we’ll hear about Machig’s life and her recommendations for practice, meditate together, and have plenty of time for discussion.

For women Mitras and Order Members, by donation but please book.

Come along tomorrow for our latest exhibition opening! đŸ–Œ

Called Recurrence: Paintings from the Riverbank and Cliff Edge, the exhibition is one mainly of landscape around the Northern Broads and from the coast of Cornwall. Whilst many of the works start from an identifiable location, it is the interaction of light and weather, with the ever repeating processes of nature, that become the subject of the paintings.

Saroja (a.k.a. David Baccus) works in watercolour and oils and has had work accepted in open competitions by both the prestigious Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and the Watercolour Society. To hear what excites Saroja in the process of painting and to have a first look at the paintings, come along to the opening evening when he will be talking to Satyagita.

All welcome, it's free to attend and no need to book.

Support Jon Clitheroe on his 450-mile coast to coast pilgrimage bike ride as he visits Vajraloka, Adhisthana, Vajrasana and Padmaloka.

Jon is fundraising in the Guhyaloka for the Ages appeal.

Whatever we raise together, an anonymous donor will match up to ÂŁ10,000. So if we raise ÂŁ10,000 together, Guhyaloka will get ÂŁ20,000!

According to the Buddha, our state of mind isn’t just background noise. It’s the engine driving our life. Our thoughts shape our actions. Our actions shape our world. And we have a beautiful choice in how that unfolds.

We can’t always change what happens to us but we can always change the way we respond. Better responses, better outcomes.

In this six-week course, we'll explore two powerful modes of mind: the reactive mind, which keeps us stuck, defensive and predictable and the creative mind, which opens space, freedom and possibility. The spiritual life is the shift from one to the other, moment after moment.

Through teaching, discussion, meditation and practical exploration, we’ll look at how to unhook from reactivity and step into a more creative, alive way of being. We’ll experiment in our everyday life with making small shifts in our responses and reviewing the effects it has.

The course is suitable for newcomers to Buddhism, as well as for more experienced practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of the Buddhist path. What are you waiting for?

Our theme for 2026 is Sangharaksh*ta's poem 'Four Gifts' and in the first part of the year we delved into the profound symbolism of the lotus. This week, Maitrisingha will be introducing us to the second gift in the poem - a golden net. We'll explore what this rich and beautiful image represents and reflect on how we can incorporate it into our lives and practice.

Our Meditation Nights are open to all levels of experience, with guided meditation for beginners and a more lightly led session for more experienced practitioners. There's no need to book, but please arrive at 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

Missed out on our last meditation course? Save the date for our next one, starting 21 May.

Meditation starts with a simple idea: our minds shape how we experience life. They create our worries, our happiness, and everything in between. When life feels stressful or uncertain, it helps to have ways of staying steady, kind, and hopeful.

Meditation is a practical way to train the mind. It’s not about stopping your thoughts or having a perfectly quiet mind. Instead, it’s about learning how to notice your thoughts and work with them in a healthier way. Over time, you can discover that calmer, clearer, and more positive states of mind are possible.

On this 6 week course, you’ll learn simple, practical ways to steady a busy mind. This course is open to everyone including newcomers, people who have been meditating at home or on an app, and people who want a refresher course on the foundations.

You don’t have to be a Buddhist to learn or benefit from our meditation practices!

This Very Body the Buddha
ă…€
Hakuin’s poem, The Song of Meditation, ends with the lines: This very place the Lotus Paradise. This very body the Buddha.

How mysterious and wonderful to know that Nirvana is nowhere other than right where we are and that Buddha is within us! Buddhism tells us that the Buddha was born as we are born and what the Buddha attained, we too can attain. This means that we have Buddha nature within us, yet our experience is usually a very long way from the serenity, compassion and wisdom of the Enlightened One.

However, we should have confidence that our practice of meditation and our intention to lead an ethical life, takes us in the direction of discovering our Buddha nature. The confidence and faith that we need is just as much in ourselves as in Buddhism. Confidence grows as we familiarise ourselves with our mind in all its states.

Join Vajraguptā for a morning of meditation and a short talk on the theme. Booking via our website.
