✨ Spotlight on Laura’s Homecare Journey! ✨
Laura joined Cavell Healthcare back in 2018, and her growth since then has been nothing short of inspiring. From starting out as an agency Healthcare Assistant to progressing through six different roles and becoming the Registered Manager of the Lowestoft branch, Laura is a shining example of what’s possible with passion, hard work, and dedication.
We sat down with Laura to learn more about her incredible journey:
What motivated you to start your career in Health & Social Care?
“I wanted to make a difference to people’s lives.”
What personal qualities helped you progress through so many roles?
“Patience, resilience, adaptability, empathy, and compassion.”
Your advice for someone just starting out in homecare?
“Take time to build trust with each client and ask questions whenever you’re unsure. Stay organised, prioritise safety, take every training opportunity, and lean on your colleagues. And remember, small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.”
Biggest learning curve in your career?
“Stepping from Deputy Manager to Registered Manager. The role required deeper regulatory knowledge, stronger leadership, and the confidence to make difficult decisions. Balancing responsibility for both clients and the team was a major turning point for me.”
What does being a Registered Manager mean to you?
“It means ensuring every person receives care with dignity, safety, and respect, while setting the culture, supporting staff, and making decisions that genuinely improve lives. It’s both a privilege and a commitment.”
Thank you, Laura, for being such an invaluable part of our team.
Your achievements, leadership, and resilience have shaped not only your own journey, but the strong, supportive team around you.
Congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished!
