Strawberry jam โฆ.
Just like Mum used to make โค๏ธ
With the season of delicious berries and fruits here, what better than to make homemade jam ๐
Residents came together and had soon hulled the strawberries , measured out the sugar and prepared the lemons ๐
With the ingredients placed in the pan they were boiled to make the right consistency to set and once slightly cooled were poured into sterile jars
What a lovely morning which evoked many memories of jam making with Mum and with their own children, with many lovely stories and helpful tips shared along the way
This led to talking about foods we used to eat and those we havenโt had for a long time and miss
One suggestion was raspberry vinegar , which used to be eaten with Yorkshire pudding as a dessert
We all decided next week thatโs what we will have a go at making -
For now we will enjoy our delicious jam
on our toast in the morning -
just perfect๐

๐ Bee green and grow. ๐
As part of our Garden sustainability project weโve been working with Phil, our โGreen Championโ to build new planters for our Cherry garden
Keen on recycling, and to support greener living we decided to use old pallets
Residents helped Phil mark out the dimensions and once Phil had cut them, helped him assemble
them ๐ช
For the final stage, they were given several coats of stain and now they are ready to be planted ๐ธ
Next week we look forward to welcoming Volunteers from Experian who will spend the morning helping our residents fill them with beautiful blooms - we canโt wait to see the final results๐
This has been a great team project encouraging everyone to reimagine waste, connect with nature, and work together to create something truly beautiful and eco-friendly.
