Throw back to 6years ago and when I ran my first ever 5K with my partner in crime. We raised £250 for breast cancer care between us and I was so chuffed with myself-it was hard, really hard and since then I have learnt so much, come so far and train completely differently now but still a time to be proud of.💖

Interesting read this morning- my hands always swell when I run,I’ve had to start taking my rings off-anyone else experience this?
Found this information below which explains why it might happen and there’s nothing you can do to stop it!🤷🏼‍♀️ apparently it’s very common-which is good to know.

During exercise, circulation increases and the hand has a large network of small blood vessels that open up. With the increased blood flow, there is some fluid leak between the cells. (We think of blood vessels like a garden hose, but in reality they have links between the cells that allow some leakage, and that leakage increases with the increased circulation from exercise.) This leakage is probably the cause of your finger swelling.

The arm swing of running increases air movement across the skin (to improve heat exchange with the air), and this arm swing motion may also contribute to fluid retention in your hands.

This fluid is eventually reabsorbed into the cells or cleared by the lymph system. This process is going on while you are running, but the rate of removal is slower than the rate of accumulation. Once you stop exercising, the fluid will reabsorb into the vascular system or surrounding cells or be removed by lymph flow.

If you notice that your hand swelling is worse when you run in the heat, you might consider moving your hard or long workouts to the cooler parts of the day. You might also consider taking off any rings before you run, so they do not get trapped on your fingers when they swell.

Another one done just 3.76 miles to go before Sunday and I’ve completed the challenge.
Mindset and music was a massive help today.
Curious what helps you when you work out?

I found that when I run I need to take my mind to another place, a little bit like meditation really,I often find myself putting the worlds to rights with myself, thinking about situations or things I want to do,things I may have done in the past, current situations and have a good old chin wag with myself in my head, (I totally get that that makes me seem nuts!but it’s true,I love a chat with myself!!)
I rationalise things a lot as well and normally remind myself to be nicer to my husband!😂 I simply can not focus on the running itself or I seem to tell myself it’s hard and I can’t do it!

Music as well is such a game changer for me.
Today the right songs kept popping in right at the right moment,I mean you can’t give up going up that massive hill when you’ve got Eminem and 8mile blasting in your earoles can you!a song all about not giving up and bailing out,I mean the songs actually a lot deeper than that but you just can’t bail out half way through that song besides I would feel like Eminem would know ive given up and then I’m id feel I was in trouble!😂😂
some songs just have a brilliant beat, where you can just slide into the rhythm concentrate on the song and actually feel the music, makes you come alive and suddenly your running feels so much easier- again I recognise I sound absolutely nuts talking about feeling music and chatting to myself in my head but it works for me!!!!
Everyone’s different though, mark runs listening to an audiobook-I’m a bit sceptic about trying that as I like a beat to pace too but I might give it a try. Any other distraction or mindset techniques I could try please throw them my way.
Anyway have a nice day everyone-remember your suncream it’s going to be a blinder!💕

That was hard! That was really bloody hard!first run in what felt like 100degrees.
I went out a bit later than I normally would today-it’s half term so no alarms are set in half term and getting up later meant I had to endure this heat and I can’t shirk off any runs this week as I’m still 10miles (well 7now!) off of completing my 25mile challenge in May.
Some days I love running and some days are like today a full on love hate relationship-I felt sick,I hated breathing in hot air and I also came to the conclusion that 2 days on the beer on Saturday and Sunday and I’m clearly still paying for it!
However I won’t feel guilty about the beer you have to have some fun-maybe next time I’ll just make it one day!😂
Any runners out there-when do you prefer to run, morning or night and how do you find running in the heat?
One things for sure I might be setting my alarm for thursdays run if it’s going to be hot!!!

Geared up and ready to go for this mornings run.
So following from the knee pain I was experiencing I’ve been wearing this brace for a couple of days which has really helped and had 4 days off of running. After some more research all symptoms swerve towards tendonitis,it’s been pretty darn sore.
I am getting to the point of what next!🙈but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I am determined not to be beaten!i will run and I will be stronger for it!

So over the last 4 days I’ve had ice packs on my knee regularly throughout the day to bring down the swelling using the old RICE method and today I felt okay to go out for a light run.
Was weird running with the brace on but it really did help a lot,I only did 3k today which I felt was enough for my knee for today-slow and steady and I changed a few other things I usually run up the huge hill that enters our estate but today I ran too it and then power walked up it so as not to put too much pressure on my kneee and then ran the rest of the route.everythings feeling okay so far so will see how the rest of the day goes!

New trainers for my run today! Exciting!
So it’s recommended you should change your trainers every 300-400 miles that you run or workout-I’ve had my current trainers for about 5 years!oooops.
Over the last month or so I’ve experienced quite a lot of pain after every time I run in various places
-lower back, knees and ankle and it’s not just niggly pain,it’s full on ouch that affects sitting or walking so I had to do some investigating into what on Earth is causing this.
Turns out my flat feet are the cause. I have flat feet with absolutely no arches on either of my feet and whilst I run both feet roll in to make matters even worse!so after a lot of research I’ve made some adjustments which il post about over time but the first one was to definitely get some new trainers that were going to support my feet better.
Picking trainers turns out to be quite an important job you need to really evaluate the shoe and how much support it can give you before just buying.
Which for some tight arse like me proves a problem, looks like I can’t just get the cheapos on offer. The best soloution would be to go to a sports shop and have my feet properly assessed whilst running on a treadmill to find trainers that would suit and support the way I run-at the moment that’s not an option due to lockdown so I’ve purchased these ASICS online after doing a lot of research and will look at getting a second pair later on this year that have been tested and fitted properly.
So the moral of the story-I’ve learnt that feet are far more important than we give them credit for and the amount of pain I’ve experienced from neglecting my stinky pinky’s is unreal. So don’t be blasé about your footwear like me and make sure you get decent trainers!
Ps-they were a dream to run in-a mahussive game changer!!!!

Hellllooooo! It’s been a long time since I posted on this page-years in fact!!!so alert!!!!-a fairly long post is coming!
Although I do still work and sell the forever living products to a few friends and family I won’t be using this page to promote or sell as before but instead thought I’d use it as a kind of blog page for others to share ideas that they may have found useful or helpful in their daily lives with their sports or wellbeing-after all sharing is caring.
I started the journey of running back in January and although I really am getting the bug for it,it’s not without a difficult journey and I’ve found myself trying to google and search others opinions on various things to aid this new adventure so that I don’t give up on it.so if anyone has any advice or tips on anything that I may post about my fitness journey, they will all be greatfully received and you never know i might write something that will resonate with you too! If anything this will be a good blog for me to look back on and see how far I’ve come.
