Our home offers a range of regular activities and amenities to ensure the comfort and well-being of our residents. With features such as security alarm systems, car park, communal lounge, lift access, pet-friendly environment, beautiful gardens, and guest room facilities - we strive to create a safe and inclusive living space. Our friendly staff are dedicated to providing a warm and supportive environment for older people who require wheelchair accessibility. The Firs Complex focuses on delivering quality housing solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of our residents while fostering a sense of community among them.

Celebrating 70 Years of making a difference 💙

2026 marks a momentous milestone for Abbeyfield as we celebrate our 70th Anniversary. We are choosing today—the birthday of our founder, Richard Carr-Gomm—to officially launch a year of reflection and celebration.

Seven decades ago, Richard Carr-Gomm recognised that no older person should have to live in isolation. He pioneered a model of retirement living centered on companionship, dignity, and community spirit. Today, we are proud to see that founding vision thriving across our member societies and houses nationwide.

Throughout the year, we will be honouring the people who make Abbeyfield special—our dedicated staff, volunteers, and most importantly, our residents.

Join us as we look back on seventy years of impact and look forward to the future of retirement living.

What a truly special day celebrating Mrs Dorothy Johnson’s 100th birthday💐 Abbeyfield Living Society

Dorothy was full of smiles as she opened her gift of bright pink 100th Birthday socks — which she found very amusing! She was surrounded by beautiful vases of flowers that kept arriving throughout the day, making the celebration even more special.

We marked the occasion with a lovely buffet lunch and a chocolate Yule log shared with staff and residents, before Dorothy’s family and friends arrived at 2pm to continue the celebrations with plenty of cake and a glass of champagne 🥂🎂

Dorothy was born in the town of Loftus, Redcar and Cleveland, later living in Castleton, before moving into Esk Moors Lodge on 18th May 2018. It was a joy to celebrate such a wonderful milestone with her, and she had a truly lovely day surrounded by people who care for her. 💖

A very "cool" guest visit at Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society 🐧❄️

Residents and staff at Hatch Mill and Wey Valley House in Farnham recently welcomed two little penguins to their home, courtesy of Heythrop Zoological Gardens.

From wandering through the homes to enjoying quiet moments with residents, these special guests brought so many smiles. This amazing experience was made possible by the incredible fundraising efforts of the local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Hatch Mill’s Cyclathon, Wey Valley House’s Big Breakfast Challenge, and their Hansel & Gretel Panto. It’s your generosity that funds these unique and joyful occasions!
