A lovely evening practice with Lauren last night, and honestly, exactly what my body needed. 🤍
With the icy roads around the area today, I noticed how much tension I’d been holding — gripping, bracing, protecting. It’s amazing how external conditions quietly show up in the body.

This practice focused on mobility and myofascial release, and it felt like permission to soften.
Simple, intentional movements brought space back into my wrists, shoulders, neck, head, and side body — areas that often hold stress without us even realizing. As the joints lubricated and the tissues released, I could feel both my body and mind settling.

There’s truly nothing more important for longevity and overall health than the ability to move freely, without pain or excess tension.
This session reminded me that medicine doesn’t always have to be intense — sometimes the simplest practices are the most powerful.
A safe, mindful space to move with awareness, reconnect, and care for the body that carries us through life.

So grateful for practices like this, listening inward, moving gently, and showing up with presence. 🧘‍♀️✨

Prawn Pasta with Tomato, Chilli & Basil
(20 minutes • fresh • full of flavour)

This is one of those no-fuss meals I love — quick, honest food with my own little twists. Perfect for busy days when you still want something delicious on the table.

🌿 Ingredients

• Olive oil
• 1 clove garlic, crushed
• Dried chilli flakes (to taste)
• Baby plum tomatoes
• White wine (optional – I skipped this as I’m doing Dry January)
• Juice of ½ lemon (for freshness)
• Spaghetti, linguine or fresh tagliatelle (my choice)
• Handful of fresh basil leaves, roughly torn
• 225g raw peeled prawns
• Salt & black pepper

👩‍🍳 Method
Step 1
Heat olive oil in a large frying pan. Add garlic and chilli flakes and cook gently for 2–3 minutes (don’t burn the garlic).
Add the tomatoes and cook for 3–4 minutes until they begin to soften.
Pour in the white wine or lemon juice and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Step 2
Meanwhile, cook your pasta in boiling salted water until just tender.
Drain, reserving a cup of the pasta water.

Step 3
Add prawns and basil to the tomato sauce. Season well and cook until the prawns turn pink.
Toss in the pasta with a splash of the reserved cooking water to loosen the sauce.
I skipped the butter and simply finished with salt and pepper to taste.

🍽 To serve

Serve with a fresh side salad, grated Parmesan, or keep it simple with garlic bread.

Quick, light, comforting, and perfect for those 20-minute meals we all need 🤍

Let it RAIN with Travis today ☔️❄️

This morning gave me a much-needed moment of personal practice — a chance to embody RAIN:
Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture.

Sometimes life rearranges our plans (today it was snow + safety), and in those pauses we’re invited to Recognize - what’s here, Allow - things to unfold, Investigate - how we’re feeling about it, and Nurture - ourselves with kindness and care.

I had been so excited to teach my first Inside Flow class today — many of you signed up with such curiosity and enthusiasm, and I’m forever grateful for that. But honouring safety matters too, so class had to be paused.

It has been so lovely to see so many of you returning to class to begin the new year, along with some new faces too (thank you for taking advantage of the '2 free classes', there's still time - email me!!!) — I am forever grateful for every single one of you.

A few small joys from the week:
✨ My lovely yogini arrived in the most beautiful hoodie from the 'Kindness You Can Wear' collection — proof that comfort + heart can coexist on the mat. (Please check my clothing range: https://namas.podsmith.co.uk/)
✨ Another brought me the most delicious baked goods — honestly, these should be 'banned' for being that scrumptious 🥐😂

As we journey through these winter days, please take care of yourself, stay safe, and offer yourself the same compassion you give to others.

Thank you to everyone who practiced with me this week — you are the heart of this community.
All classes will resume as normal next week unless stated otherwise.

Be kind, be warm, be well.
With love, always 🤍🧘🏽‍♀️

Mas 🙏🏽🧘🏽‍♀️🙏🏽

I’ve never really been someone who follows the news.
So much of it feels saturated with fear, anger, and division — and honestly, it can feel overwhelming and heavy to carry.

But recently, I came across something that stopped me in my tracks:
Buddhist monks walking across the USA in unity for peace, accompanied by their adopted dog, Aloka — whose name means light. 🤍

Their mission is simple, yet profound:
to walk mindfully across the country as a living prayer for peace, compassion, and non-violence — raising awareness around kindness, unity beyond religion, care for all beings, and the possibility of healing through presence rather than force.

Along the way, they’ve faced real challenges: one of the monks was injured in an accident, and they’ve been stopped and confronted by people telling them they’ll go to hell if they don’t “find Christ.” And yet… they kept walking. No arguments. No defensiveness. Just compassion, humility, and steadiness.

Learning about this honestly made me super emotional.
It touched something deep — a reminder of the quiet power of gentleness in a world that often forgets it.

I may not identify as deeply religious, but I am spiritual — and I’ve always felt a natural resonance with Buddhism and Balinese Hinduism. Both traditions are less about rigid belief and more about how you live: kindness, balance, ritual, devotion, harmony with nature, and responsibility for your inner world.

What these monks are doing feels like yoga in its truest form — far beyond postures.
This is ahimsa (non-violence) in motion.
Santosha (contentment) on the road.
Tapas (discipline) through discomfort.
Pratyahara in not reacting to judgment.
Dhyana through walking meditation.

In a time where everyone is shouting to be heard, there is something profoundly radical about choosing silence, presence, and compassion.
This walk reminded me that peace doesn’t need permission.
It doesn’t need to be defended.
It begins with how we move through the world — one conscious step, one open heart, at a time. 🕊️✨

Easy Tofu Red Thai Curry 🍛🌱 (20-minute meal)

This is one of those quick, comforting, high-protein meals that saves busy days. Simple ingredients, big flavour, and totally customisable.

You’ll need:
• 1 pack firm tofu
• Olive oil
• Tamari (or soy sauce)
• Garlic powder & onion powder
• 1 onion, chopped
• 2–3 cloves garlic, chopped
• Fresh ginger, chopped or grated
• Chopped tomatoes
• Red Thai curry paste
• Turmeric
• Coconut milk
• Vegetable stock cube
• Black pepper
• Salt to taste

Veggies (use what you love):
I used red pepper, mushrooms, baby corn & edamame beans 🌈

Method:

1️⃣ Dab tofu dry with kitchen towel, cut into cubes, and marinate with olive oil, tamari, garlic powder & onion powder for about 5 minutes.
2️⃣ Spread tofu on a lined baking tray (make sure it’s spaced out!) and bake at 200°C for 15 minutes. Turn once to get it crispier and firmer.

3️⃣ Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a saucepan. Add onion, garlic, ginger, and chopped tomatoes. Cook until soft and translucent.
4️⃣ Add red Thai curry paste and turmeric, cook for 1 minute to release the flavours.
5️⃣ Pour in coconut milk, add black pepper (to activate the turmeric 💛), vegetable stock cube, and salt to taste. Keep stirring.
6️⃣ Add your vegetables and let simmer until tender and the sauce is rich and creamy.
7️⃣ Gently stir in the baked tofu and heat through.

Serve with plain rice, naan bread, or any sides you love 🍚🥖

✨ Tips:
• Add a little brown sugar to balance the spice if needed
• Adjust thickness with a splash of water or stock
• Make it yours – this recipe loves creativity

✨ Why I love this:
• Approx 28g protein
• Anti-inflammatory thanks to ginger & turmeric
• Ready in 20 minutes

Simple, nourishing, and full of flavour 🤍

As the year begins and the rhythm of daily life resumes, we are invited to return to the body before rushing ahead.

Grounding is not about stopping progress — it is about creating stability so we can move forward with clarity.

When we feel our feet on the earth and our breath in the body, the nervous system softens, and presence becomes possible.

From this place, we remember that we are already supported.

Food recipes 🥣✨

I thought I’d start sharing this here as a small step toward encouraging more vegetarian / pescatarian meals, with a focus on a well-balanced diet and higher protein where possible. A few of you have asked if I’d share the food I cook, so here we are 🤍
I’ll also be linking everything to , where I pour all my love for cooking and baking.

As a mum, it’s important to me to feed my family well – and that includes my children. I’ve never been great with fussy eaters; for me, food is about teaching, exploring flavours, and learning about different cultures. That’s especially important to me as someone who originates from Indonesia, where food and family are everything.
We can argue, cry, even fall out… but when there’s food – 'good food' – the connection revives, and love finds its way back. Food brings us together. Always.

So for my first choice, I’m sharing something I’ve already introduced to some of you during our day retreat at Sudbury a hearty, warming butternut squash soup, gently spiced with ginger. Perfect for wintery months and pure comfort in a bowl.

Ginger Butternut Squash Soup

You’ll need:
• 6 tomatoes
• 2 butternut squash (or sweet potatoes / pumpkin)
• 1 onion
• 1 red pepper
• 2 carrots
• Olive oil
• Salt & pepper, to taste
• ~5 cm fresh ginger, finely chopped or grated
• 1 litre vegetable stock

Method:
Roast all the vegetables with olive oil, salt, and pepper until lightly coloured.
Add the ginger and return to the oven until everything is beautifully caramelised.
Transfer to a large saucepan, add the vegetable stock, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
Allow to cool slightly, then blend until smooth and creamy.
Adjust thickness with more stock if needed – make it personal 🤍

Serve with really good homemade bread and enjoy.

Another slow-to-grow practice with Travis, and honestly, I needed this more than I realized. 🤍
My body has been feeling stiff, my back pain still quietly there, and today felt like a moment to stop pushing and really listen.

With everything moving so fast — life, work, stronger practices — choosing to slow down felt like an act of care. This practice gave me space to move gently, linger in stretches, and soften my breath. I could feel my nervous system calm, my body slowly unwind, and my energy return in a way that felt sustainable and kind.

It reminded me that listening to my body isn’t weakness — it’s self-respect. Slowing down isn’t doing less; it’s choosing what I truly need in this moment. Grateful for practices that allow me to meet myself exactly where I am. 🧘‍♂️✨

50 things to do before I turn 50 ✨

One thing I’ve always wanted to do—but never stayed consistent with—is meditating more. So here it is, officially on my list.

A simple morning meditation. Not going to sugarcoat it—it was tough. My mind traveled everywhere… random thoughts, old memories, today’s to-do list 😅

I practiced japa meditation, gently repeating “Ram” as I went along. Every time my mind wandered, I brought it back to the mantra. No perfection, just showing up.

One day at a time 🙏

As we step into a new year, I just want to pause and say thank you 🌿

This past year — and honestly, this whole journey — has reminded me how much yoga has carried me through life.

Thank you to my yoga community for your continuous support, your trust, and your presence. Whether you’ve been with me from the very beginning or have joined along the way — you are deeply appreciated. This community means more to me than words can express.

I’ve shared a personal reflection on the blog — my journey, my learning, and how yoga has grounded me through every stage of life. It’s written with love and honesty, and I hope it feels like a safe and gentle space to land.

I wish you all a very happy New Year. May this year bring steadiness, kindness, and moments of joy. May all your hopes and wishes for the year ahead grow gently and become fruitful.

“May your practice meet you exactly where you are, and carry you forward with kindness.”

Thank you for walking this path with me. I’m so grateful to continue this journey together 🤍

Thank you so much to everyone who joined me to complete '108 Sun Salutations' Online this evening.
What a beautiful way to end the year — moving with intention, breath, and community, and planting positive seeds for the year ahead.

Sun Salutations are a moving meditation — a rhythmic flow of postures linked with the breath, traditionally used to build warmth, clarity, strength, and focus. Completing 108 is not about perfection or pushing limits, but about devotion, patience, and showing up — one breath, one movement at a time. A powerful way to release the old and welcome the new.

This also ticks off another goal from my ✔️'50 things before I turn 50' list next year — but the most meaningful part was doing it 'together'. With plenty of breaks, rest, gentle stretches, and kindness woven throughout, it became something truly achievable and supportive.

I feel so proud of everyone who took the opportunity to step onto the mat with me, and so deeply grateful for the love, encouragement, and shared energy. Practices like this remind me that yoga is about connection, compassion, and creating safe spaces — where we support one another and grow together.

So blessed. So thankful. 🧘‍♀️✨
