We’re thinking of everyone affected by the current critical incident at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust — patients, families, and the hardworking NHS staff doing all they can under significant pressure. 💙
If you’re able to help ease demand on services, please follow the Trust’s guidance:
• If your relative is ready for discharge and needs collecting, please do so as early as possible. This helps free up beds for patients waiting to be admitted.
• Only call 999 or attend ED for serious accidents and life-threatening emergencies.
• For non life-threatening concerns, use NHS 111 online or call 111 for advice and support.
• Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) can treat sprains, strains, suspected fractures, bites, cuts, scalds and other minor injuries — often with much shorter waiting times than ED.
• Pharmacies can help with a wide range of common conditions. More than 200 pharmacies across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire offer NHS treatment for seven common conditions under the Pharmacy First service (including UTIs in eligible women, earache, shingles, sinusitis, impetigo and sore throats).
• Please avoid visiting loved ones in hospital if you have flu or respiratory symptoms — wait until you’re feeling better.
Small actions can make a big difference in helping protect emergency care for those who need it most.
From all of us at Bluebird Care Nottingham, thank you for supporting your local NHS during this challenging time. 💙
