A fabulous Christmas Day!

All our lovely residents had such a wonderful Christmas Day, celebrating together. The home was so alive with lots of families and friends visiting their loved ones. Everybody agreed there was such a lovely atmosphere in the home. A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and commitment to making the day so special for all our residents - they and their families are truly grateful. We hope you all had as good a Christmas as we did here.

A very welcome visitor....

All the residents and staff were delighted to see Santa last week as he paid the home a special visit. He brought lots of presents and good cheer and was welcomed very warmly. All our residents were delighted to see him and said what a shame he only comes once a year, as he's such a cheerful fellow! We hope to see Santa next year and that he managed to visit you wherever you live!

A lovely gesture....

All our residents would like to say a big thank you to the pupils of Springbank School, who were kind enough to send us all handmade Christmas cards. They were a lovely thing to receive, and it was wonderful to read all the festive messages.
We hope all the pupils had a lovely Christmas and got lots of cards themselves.

Happy Birthday Joyce!.....

Our lovely resident Joyce celebrated her Birthday recently. But not just any old Birthday - she turned 104 - way to go Joyce - amazing! When asked what her secret for a long life was, she confided that a glass a whisky before bed was the key! Well who are we to say that it doesn't work, when we have the wonderful Joyce as evidence. Creativity at Christmas

Our lovely residents have been enjoying art and crafts again this week, making Christmas cards for loved ones. There have been some terrific designs, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed being creative. Maybe we should go into business for next year and corner the Eastwood Christmas card market!

Happy Birthday Esther!....

We had a very special birthday here at Edward House recently. Our lovely resident, Esther turned 90 and had a great day celebrating. There was a fab hairdo, some lovely flowers and cards, and other terrific presents. She would like to thank everyone who made her day so special. Many happy returns from everyone at Edward House!

Christmas has arrived!!

A fantastic night was had by all at Edward House when we switched on the Christmas lights yesterday. The home looked a treat with all the decorations making it look so festive. There was brilliant music and plenty to eat and drink. Santa himself made an appearance and spoke to lots of people, including many of our residents - we wonder what was on their lists for him? Everyone had a lovely time, and it was great to see so many happy smiling faces - just what you want at Christmas time!

Christmas Creativity....

Our residents are already getting into the Christmas spirit here at Edward House. This week, they have been involved in a lovely Arts and Crafts session where they were making cards for their loved ones. Lots of fun and great for helping with engagement and fine motor skills.

It's beginning to feel a lot like.....

And to complete the Christmasy feel, Edward House is going to switch its Christmas Lights on and throw a little party to which you're all invited! There will be food, drink, music, and lots of Christmas cheer - what's not to like? We hope to see you on the 1st December between 6pm and 8pm.

Marking Remembrance Day....

Remembrance Day holds deep significance for many of our residents whose family histories are touched by war, and today we will listen as they share memories from the past. We have been putting up appropriate decorations in the home over the last week and today we will hold a period of silence and make sure that we honour the sacrifice of people in the two World Wars and other conflicts. We hope that going forward we can all learn to live in a more peaceful and harmonious world. We should never forget the sacrifices of those who fought so that we can live as freely as we do today.

Marking Remembrance Day

Recently at Edward House, we held an activity that all of our residents wanted to get involved in. Making Poppy displays for last Sunday's parade proved incredibly popular, and there were some lovely creations on display. It brought everyone together, and there were lots of shared memories.
