Congratulations to L&Q who have achieved Menopause Friendly Accreditation AND secured an award for Excellence in Female Health Advocacy! 👏

Colleagues across its two offices in Stratford and Trafford have engaged in awareness training, safe space meetings and wellbeing events to successfully break the taboo around menopause in the workplace. By turning policies into meaningful action, L&Q has also seen a ripple effect with wider conversations among managers, leaders, and colleagues who want to understand how to support their family members. 🤩

Congratulations to Nottingham College on achieving the Menopause Friendly Accreditation. 👏

In order to achieve the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, Nottingham College was assessed by an independent panel and had to demonstrate evidence of its effectiveness in five key areas, namely: culture, policies and practices, training, engagement and working environment.

As part of their evaluation, the independent panel provided them with very positive feedback:

“The panel was fully supportive of the inclusive culture Nottingham College is fostering to support colleagues experiencing menopause. What stands out is the longevity and authenticity of the approach. This is not new work - it has been evolving since 2019 and continues to mature.”

Congratulations to Liverpool John Moores University on achieving the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, they are the first university in the North West to achieve this standard, and only the fourth university in the UK. 👏

Tina Purkis BA(Hons) FCIPD, Executive Director Human Resources at LJMU, said: “After months of hard work collating evidence from the last few years of activity here at LJMU, we are proud to announce that we have achieved Menopause Friendly Accreditation. We are fully committed to supporting our staff during this transitional phase in their lives and understand that the perimenopause and the menopause can really impact people’s working lives. At LJMU we really care about our staff and want people to understand that we are here to support them at all times during their career.”

Throughout 2026, they are focusing on making more training opportunities available, engaging further with staff networks, and increasing visibility of actions and support available.

To keep the conversation about menopause going, monthly Menopause Cafés will continue to be hosted and themed sessions, both in-person and online, will be arranged to both enhance support available on key menopause topics and aid the gathering of feedback to continuously review, improve and increase provisions across the university.

Occupational Health is becoming central to menopause support in the workplace. With growing focus from Government, regulators and employers on improving support for women’s health at work, organisations are now expected to take a more structured approach, including developing Menopause Action Plans.

This is where Occupational Health professionals play a crucial role. Our Certified Menopause Training Programme for Occupational Health Professionals, developed by Henpicked in partnership with the Society of Occupational Medicine, has been designed to help OH practitioners navigate this evolving landscape with confidence.

The programme explores the medical foundations of menopause, how symptoms can impact individuals at work and the important role Occupational Health plays in assessments, recommendations and workplace adjustments.

Participants will also gain access to practical, evidence-based resources they can use straight away in their work, including tools to support menopause-informed assessments and guidance to help employers develop effective menopause action plans.

Delivered by menopause specialists, Occupational Health leaders and workplace experts, the learning is designed to be practical and immediately applicable.

Menopause Friendly members receive one free place per member organisation on this training, so book your spot now. If you're not a member, paid places are available.

If your organisation would like access to opportunities like this, please get in touch to find out more about becoming a Menopause Friendly member.

Menopause Action Plans are becoming an increasingly important part of the workplace conversation.

In the latest issue of Menopause Matters magazine, our founder Deborah Garlick explores why they matter and what they mean for employers. đź’ˇ

As menopause becomes more firmly recognised as a workplace issue, organisations are beginning to move beyond awareness and towards practical action. Menopause Action Plans represent a shift from simply acknowledging menopause to embedding meaningful support within workplace culture, policies and leadership.

Deborah’s article looks at what this means in practice and why organisations should start thinking about their approach now.

The article appears in the Spring 2026 edition of Menopause Matters, which is available in print for subscribers and in selected high street shops.

If you prefer reading digitally, the magazine is also available through the Menopause Matters Digital Edition App.

It’s encouraging to see menopause in the workplace continuing to gain space in respected publications and reaching a wider audience of employers, HR leaders and decision-makers. 🤩

Congratulations to Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on achieving the Menopause Friendly Accreditation! 👏

Almost 70 per cent of the Warrington and Halton Hospitals workforce is made up of women in mid-life, many of whom balance demanding roles with challenging menopause symptoms.

The trust has been awarded the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, after introducing a range of practices and initiatives. These including menopause cafes – a supportive, confidential space for colleagues to openly chat and offer peer support – and menopause advocates, trained members of staff who are there to provide advice and guidance, as well as helping to normalise conversations about menopause in the workplace.

Michelle Cloney, Chief People Officer at WHH, said: “This accreditation is a fantastic achievement and reflection of who we are as a trust. Menopause is a natural part of life and by opening up these conversations and offering the right health and wellbeing support, we are building a workplace that removes stigma and ensures everyone feels safe to bring their whole self to work.

“This is more than an accreditation – it’s about creating a culture where every colleague feels seen, supported and understood.”

What if a comic could change how workplaces understand menopause? 🤔

That’s exactly what Navigating Menopause in the Workplace aims to do. 🤩

Developed from PhD research by Chithramali Rodrigo at the University of Aberdeen, this powerful comic brings together research, lived experience and visual storytelling to explore what menopause at work can really look like.

Through the story of Melanie, readers follow the journey from the first confusing symptoms through to diagnosis and, ultimately, raising awareness in her workplace. Along the way it highlights practical changes that can make a real difference, from flexible working and desk fans to open conversations and better understanding from managers and colleagues.

Menopause affects more than 13 million women in the UK, yet many people still find it difficult to talk about at work. By using a visual format, this comic helps make those experiences more relatable, memorable and easier to discuss. đź’ˇ

The project was funded by Henpicked through our Menopause and Menstruation Friendly Employer Awards, with Deborah Garlick and Sally Leech from Henpicked supporting its development. Thanks to this funding, the comic is available free of charge to everyone. 🥰

This collaboration between researchers, clinicians, artists and workplace specialists shows what can happen when evidence, creativity and lived experience come together. 🤝
