PLEASE KNOW THE RISKS AND THE LAW BEFORE.🌾🌳💐
The dreaded hayfever season is approaching and i myself suffer beyond belief but …
People think it’s just an injection for hay fever it’s not and is not licensed for hay fever in this country.
It’s prescription only product and all blame will lie on prescriber as it’s a “ off label “ medicine ie not for hay fever .
If you have it it’s at the total mercy of the person that injects you and it can have serious ,very serious side effects.
You should be monitored for 1 -2 hour after injection ( unfortunately most places don’t do this ) you can go into anaphylactic shock within this time .
The nhs do not do it now the risks are too high .
Here is the current situation regarding Kenalog in England:
The NHS stopped offering this steroid injection for hay fever years ago due to safety concerns and potential side effects.
MHRA Regulations: The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has warned private clinics against advertising the jab for hay fever, as promoting prescription-only medicines (POMs) to the public is illegal.
"Off-Label" Use: While some private doctors or clinicians may still prescribe it, they do so under their own professional responsibility, often after a consultation to ensure the patient understands the risks.
Risks: The injection is a high-dose steroid that suppresses the immune system, which can come with significant risks, including potential long-term health issues.
Alternative Options: Allergy UK and the NHS recommend other treatments, such as antihistamines, nasal sprays, and eye drops, or, for severe cases, immunotherapy.
I know myself only too well what anaphylaxis is like and severe pollen allergies.
Please be aware you may think it’s a miracle cure but after effects can cause life long problems.
