To celebrate World Earth Day yesterday we spent the morning out in the garden planting some seeds. I, personally don’t have much experience in this, so had to rely on the residents for direction. They were brilliant! We will keep you updated on any progress. We planted Sunflowers, Lavender and more.
In the afternoon, we got messy with some paint pouring.
Then just like gods, we created the earth!

It’s great now the weather is warming up… taking our residents out into the local community. Here we are at The Bridge. The staff here are amazing, they go above and beyond to help. Picture at the top is Pat Gwyther, she had an unexpected surprise when her daughter, Lindsey arrived at the pub! She was over the moon!
Below is Michael Reed with one of our valued carers, Clemence. Michael enjoyed getting out in the sunshine and having a pint.

Meet Veronica Gibbons. Veronica used to be a carer. She is now one of our cherished residents. Since I began my role at Longmoor back in December, Veronica has always been very helpful and chatty. She likes to look out of the window and often tells me that she’d like to go across the road, pointing beyond the tress. Veronica also asks me “what are they doing over there?” and I Reply “I don’t know”.
Well, yesterday was Veronica’s birthday, so I said “come on, get ya coat on, we’re going over the road.”
We walked across the road and up round the back of the trees where new houses have been built. On the way back we stopped and asked the workmen what they were doing with the trees and they assured us that they were just making sure it was safe, as one had fallen due to the wind. Veronica was over the moon. Sometimes the smallest things have the biggest impact!

It was lovely being able to take Kevin Coy (top) and Nick Wood across to The Bridge for a pint now the weather is a bit brighter. It was my first time in The Bridge and it was great, the staff were really friendly and accommodating, so thank you!

We had a special Easter visit yesterday from Ducklings Sandiacre. Our residents enjoyed making hopping bunnies with the children and were full of smiles all day! A huge thank you from all at Longmoor ❤️
In the top (right) picture is Maureen Minchin and Yvonne Durose, then directly below, one of the little ducklings is showing Barbara Clarke her hopping bunny in action. To the left, Wendy Street is behind the paper cup…adorable! Definitely an Easter to be remembered.
