Tai Chi & Qi Gong Forms & How Classes Work:
In our weekly Tai Chi & Qi gong classes we learn forms. I teach different forms though out the week in our different classes - Check out our class schedule.
*What are forms?
A form is a choreographed sequence of slow, flowing, and meditative movements, often described as "meditation in motion"
Each form has a different number for example Yang 8. Yang is the style and there are 8 movements.
These routines consist of specific postures linked together to develop balance, relaxation, and internal energy, serving as a foundational practice for health, wellness.
*When do we start new forms?
A new form usually starts at the beginning of term (January, Easter & September). Our more advanced classes learn longer forms and these often span over 2 or 3 terms depending on the length of the form.
In the following term, we may review the form from the beginning to strengthen our techniques and provide beginners with a solid foundation to start learning the form.
*Why is it important to not miss a class?
Each week we learn a new posture to the form and we consolidate the previous weeks posture.
It is crucial that students commit to attending their weekly classes to progress through the forms effectively. Consistent attendance ensures that students can keep up with the movements being taught each week and can successfully consolidate their learning. Without regular attendance, students may fall behind on the form and struggle to catch up, which can impact their overall progress and development in Tai Chi or Qi Gong.
While it is achievable to introduce beginners during a term if it often difficult for them to integrate if we are mid form.
