👣 Chilblains Season is Here Let’s Protect Those Toes ❄️
Chilblains occur when the small blood vessels in your skin over-react to cold → warm temperature changes. This can cause red, purple, itchy or burning patches on your toes, fingers, heels or ears.
If left untreated, they can become cracked, blistered, or even infected especially in those with circulation conditions or diabetes.
To help protect the skin barrier, we stock Akileïne Winter Protective Cream in clinic. This cream forms a protective layer, maintains hydration and supports the skin in colder weather to reduce chilblain flare-ups.
Top Tips:
• Warm up gradually (no direct heaters on cold feet)
• Wear well-fitted, warm socks (not tight!)
• Keep skin moisturised to protect the barrier
• If the skin breaks, or you have underlying conditions → see a podiatrist
Your feet deserve warm, healthy care this winter.
