In my mid 30s I was really struggling, I just felt there is more to life and it made me deeply sad and absent. At the time I was attending a men’s group an

d I was introduced to the Iron John folk tale. I’m sure most of you have heard of the Brother’s Grimm Stories, you know Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little red riding hood etc. These are very very old folk tales mostly about how we become adults. Many of the stories are about how girls become women, but Iron John is a story about how a boy becomes a man which is why I was introduced to it at a men’s group. The Work

This folk tale holds deep meaning for me because I was reading it at the exact moment, when life seemed to be humbling me ... at that moment I made my decision to do the dirty work of rebuilding myself. It directly started my journey to heal the parts of me that hurt the most and look at parts of me I really needed to look at but was afraid of looking at. I’ve changed so deeply I barely recognise who I was. I am forever grateful I made the decision to do the painful and hard work. Now I want to share this knowledge with the world so that others can heal themselves too.
