Just ask any of the RWF team for details, but basically:

All existing members can bring a friend for free, once a month, every month.

Training is more fun with a mate. Don't worry, they won't get a hard sell. It's more about an extra membership perk for you.

Please welcome long-term RWF client and gym member Christine Skeats to our Personal Training team here at Real World Fitness!

Chris has a wealth of life experience (have a read below) and brings a dimension to the personal training world that simply doesn't exist elsewhere - a peer of the very age group that benefits from excellent personal training, and is unlikely to engage with kids straight out of PT school.

From Chris:

"Like many others, I was never a sports star at school and only began exercising and using a gym, in my forties when I realised I needed to lose weight. I started my fitness journey at a local leisure centre’s aerobics session before trying a range of different classes and then discovering a passion for weightlifting.

At the age of 50 I was encouraged by a trainer to take part in a kettlebell sport competition and won my first ever medal! That was followed by winning many more medals, breaking British records and eventually representing England at international level. As running is assistance work for Kettlebell Sport, I also ran two half marathons and was a regular face at Colwick Park run until 2021. Needing more challenge, I changed direction in 2020 and began exploring powerlifting, competing with some bigger weights!

I am a parent and grandparent and taught in primary schools for 32 years, retiring from teaching very recently. This gives me an understanding of the challenges of finding time to work, care for family and exercise. My teaching skills help me break new ideas into bite size pieces and support individuals to make progress at their own level.

All the above gives me understanding about how it feels to be a beginner and new to training as well as how to train at a high level. I have more than 20 years’ experience of using gyms and training.

Many individuals feel nervous and uncertain about how to use weights in a gym – I did too when I was getting started. My aim is to introduce people of all ages to the gym, show them how to lift safely and develop their own exercise habits leading them to feel physically and mentally strong long into later life"

***Do you follow a training plan?***

One of the biggest indicators of success in the gym is having a gym training plan.

People who make it up as they go along, or just jump onto whatever machine happens to be available, rarely make any noticeable progress in strength or appearance.

It’s also a big reason people quit the gym – why would you keep plugging away, spending money and time, on something that isn’t making any difference? You need a gym training plan.

So we'd always recommend getting a personal trainer to work with you, design a gym training plan for you, and get guidance on how to do everything properly. You’ll save months, even years of wasted effort, and probably spare yourself an injury or two.

But not everyone wants, or wants to outlay the money for, personal training.

And that’s fine: this article is designed to pour out some of our knowledge for you, so you can have a go at creating your own gym training plan that has a fighting chance of getting your somewhere.

Let’s dig into the things you’ve got to consider:

How much does it cost to hire a personal trainer in Nottingham?

In the UK, the average cost of a personal trainer is somewhere between £25 and £60. As with any profession, the location matters – and London-based PTs can charge in excess of £150 per hour for the same, or lesser, standard of training than personal trainers in cheaper parts of the UK.

Real World Fitness are experts in personal training in Nottingham, and as a result of a couple of decades of personal training experience, and a dedicated, well-equipped gym with sports therapists on site, RWF charge the higher end of what you’d expect to pay in Nottingham, at £50 per session

Professional, personal training in Nottingham, like any service, has a price tag. Read on to find out why we charge what we do, and why you should be wary of cheaper...

If you’re looking for strength training in Nottingham, you’ve got a lot of options.

As a city, Nottingham is gifted with more gyms per capita than pretty much any other city in the UK.

But, as many of you will know, not all gyms are the same.
Many places will talk about strength; but it’s hard to define. Strength does have some objective, absolute values, but a lot of it is subjective.

To some hardcore, spit’n’sawdust powerlifting gyms, you’ve got no business even mentioning strength training unless you can deadlift 300kg and are knocking back enough chemical enhancements to make Arnie blush. That’s great for their target market, but it’s a bit crap for the general public.

It seems exclusive, exclusionary and intimidating. It’s also unnecessary for 99.9% of people.

So let’s swing the other way – ‘the strength is movement, anything is better than nothing, be kind to yourself and just focus on you’ gyms. Again – great, for that market that wants an excuse not to succeed, but we’ve found that message a bit belittling over the years. It puts the the brakes on achievement before you’ve even started. The message is ‘don’t worry, you don’t have to make any real effort beyond turning up’.

Have a read on about why we think Real World Fitness is the best place for strength training for normal people...

One of the great things about our new location has been the addition of cardio kit to the gym.

The treadmills in our cardio suite have proved really popular, so we've added two more. They should be here sometime next week.

Free weights - got you covered
Machines - got you covered
Cardio - got you covered

If you want to lift, train and get your CV on in a professional, friendly, no drama environment, we're your place.

Remember - you don't need to have PT to train here, and you don't need to be a member to have PT!
