As we approach the festive season, I invite you to join me in acknowledging the profound significance of the recovery journey. Christmas, traditionally a time of celebration and unity, offers a poignant moment to recognise the invaluable transformational gift of reclaiming one's life from the clutches of addiction and other problematic relationships with substances and/or behaviours.

In the spirit of gratitude, let us pause to contemplate the strides made, the resilience demonstrated, and what has contributed to that transformation. For anyone in recovery or seeking recovery, there is a promise of a future defined by newfound freedom.
Whatever your definition of recovery is, continue along that path. Especially when it's tough, or you have wandered off it.

Extend a hand of support to those navigating the delicate path of recovery, and in doing so, contribute to a collective hope.

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) has released new survey findings highlighting the growing impact of issues like the cost of living, loneliness, and climate anxiety on mental health in the UK.

I was pleased to be asked to offer a comment on these results.

"I’ve noticed a growing number of clients seeking support for alcohol, drug, and p**nography use. These often become coping mechanisms for people facing difficulties such as mental health struggles, financial stress, and other life pressures. I’m also seeing more people seeking support for difficulties that began during COVID - particularly those connected to lockdowns and their impact on wellbeing and increased alcohol consumption"

It’s been 12 years since I became a member of the BACP and began my journey as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.

I’m deeply grateful for the support I’ve received on this journey — for the faith others have placed in me, the encouragement, the opportunities, and the connections that have helped shape my path.

I continue to be inspired by the people I work with every day, seeking to make changes in their worlds, seeking to heal, and seeking to make things better.

I'm not great at being visible, but I’m never far away. I can be found in my counselling room, sitting with clients as we work together.
