A Sunday sweet treat!

Today at Coppice Lodge we held our monthly baking session, where residents gathered together to make some lovely jam tarts! Residents worked together to roll out the pastry, cut out the tarts, and fill them with delicious strawberry jam and lemon curd. There was lots of chatter and fun and, at the end of the day, a lot of tarts to go around!

Crafting happiness one bouquet at a time

We've had a very busy afternoon yesterday at Coppice Lodge Care Home arranging flower jars for our dining tables. Both Doreen and Pat have had a lovely time creating their jars based on their favourite colour combinations while discussing the many different types of flowers. This has been an activity part of our gardening club but as the weather is very gloomy we still wanted to do something flower related. We hope to plant our own flowers or vegetables as the months warm up.

A very motivated morning!

Every Wednesday morning we have the pleasure to be visited by the love motivational therapy group who encourages our residents to keep their minds and body active. This is done by the use of fun riddles and 'pairs' where the lady says a name and residents are encouraged to think of who is usually paired up with them - for example Adam and ..... Eve!

Followed by a fun alphabet game and finally a bit of body exercises

A happy new year from Coppice Lodge!

As we say goodbye to 2025 and hello to 2026, we here at Coppice Lodge have been reflecting on all the fun and exciting things we got up to last year. To celebrate the new year and life at the home, we've begun a new scrapbook project, placing photos from last year alongside staff and residents' favourite moments of 2025 and their resolutions for 2026.

With so much to include, the project will likely take some time to complete—keep an eye out for more updates and, eventually, the finished thing! In the meantime, residents have been getting involved in the scrapbooking process, getting everything stuck down where it needs to be and picking out fun colour themes for the pages.

Today we braved the cold outside and took a walk down the road to a local park.

It is part of a new activity here at Coppice Lodge where we take our residents out for a walk either around the local area, our lovely gardens or the home depending on the weather. Both Mary and Doreen have absolutely adored their walk and especially the fresh air! It is honestly the little things that will make a person smile and we strive to put a smile on all of our residents faces as much as we can ☺️

We were lucky enough to have blue sky on our adventures and although it was very cold we all wrapped up warm.

The bullseye life

Yesterday we had the pleasure to be visited by the great Waleys Dart Days which the residents always love. It is an activity which often fills the room. Our lovely residents had a go and we even had a mini staff tournament which Heidi won ( "as long as it's not Ken" - Doreen ) while the resident tournament was taken yet again by our lovely John - will he score a hat trick in the next one? Stay tuned to find out!

Here at coppice Lodge we aim to keep our residents hand & eye coordinations active but also fun - darts is a fun way to do this along with hand strength 💪🏻

We've been ever so lucky to be gifted these lovely hand made blankets - our Lovely Doreen (who used to knit till not long ago) absolutely adores them. The joy on her face cannot be missed and as we head into the colder months of January and February these will be ever so useful in our lounges for whenever anyone is that tad bit chilli.

A massive thank you to Mindful Moments held at Robert Mellors Primary School who offer a range of activities for parents & adults such as crocheting, games, diamond art, meditation and much more each Monday from 9:00-10:30am.

A festive fitness activity!

This morning the lovely Sophie made her final return to Coppice Lodge to run a special Christmas edition of G Fitness! There were games, stretches, fun festive hats, and plenty of laughter. A big thank you to Sophie, who shows up every week with a smile and a commitment to making fitness fun that has touched every resident who has attended one of her sessions.

A Christmas Concert!

Yesterday saw the return of home favourite Ami Evans to Coppice Lodge! She put on a fantastic performance of all sorts of Christmas songs, with residents singing and clapping along. It was a delightful way to begin this Christmas week and put smiles on everybody's faces!

Here at Coppice Lodge we encourage our residents to take part in various activities even if the main event is not your thing, it is always nice to have a cuppa and be around others. We try to keep the residents options open as much as possible. You never know just how much you need to be in the company of others until you're sat surrounded.

Here at Coppice lodge we aim to keep our residents cognitively active by playing various games.

Today we played black jack, a game a couple residents were familiar with but the majority were new to and they have all picked up the rules quickly and even wanted to expand & introduce scoring systems! They simply did not wish to stop and even continued on their own.

It is definitely an activity that keeps growing in attendance!
