Don’t mind us, we're just taking things one step at a time!

Today we had an eventful day here at Coppice Lodge - we had a quiz in the morning with Walter & Peter in the lead with their correct answers and Doreen not far behind. We even had family members join us briefly during our quiz and had a brief reminiscing moment with Peter and his lovely wife about their experiences during WW2.

In the afternoon our activities coordinator took 5 of our residents for a walk around our lovely gardens while we had sunshine in the sky - it definitely was not cold and we all appreciated feeling the sunshine rays on our faces. It is part of our walk & roll initiative which we will start to fully roll out in the coming months. All of the residents on today's walks have said just how much they were glad they came and would definitely want to come out again. A little bit of sunshine can cheer up everyone here at Coppice Lodge - spring is definitely on the way 🌈

Bingo Thursdays

Another bingo session - although a smaller group than usual we still had loads of fun with many prices won. We've had a newbie come to try out our bingo session and she's now ready to attend a future session as well - welcome to bingo Thursdays Sheila !

Our Doreen has managed to win ALL of the games this session but was generous enough to share her other prizes with Pat & Walter - sharing is caring!

Domino's doesn't know age

Today we have had the pleasure of being visited by a polytech school from Mansfield with their two lovely boys on their work experience journey who have shown patience and interest while playing Dominos with Peter & Raymond while Hillary watched on and calmly coloured in Easter themed pictures. Our Raymond has won the game and then went on a celebratory walk around the home with his newly made friend Hilary and our activities coordinator while chatting away about how much he has enjoyed the game - and even kept her company at knit and natter downstairs.

Peter has also really enjoyed the game with the young boys and is looking forward to their visit back next week

And the winner is...

This afternoon residents at Coppice Lodge gathered for a competitive game of ring toss. The goal was to throw their ring over as many cones as possible over the course of several rounds. With a two-way tie for 5th place and a three-way tie for 4th place, a clear top 3 emerged: Jean in 3rd place with 4 points, Peter in 2nd place with 5 points, and John in 1st with a whopping 10 points!

The above statement is my motto when it comes to arts and crafts activities here at Coppice Lodge. While age and inexperience can make residents feel unsure of their artistic abilities, truly the goal is not a perfect product, but rather enjoying the experience that was creating something.

In pursuit of the goal of a relaxed and creative Saturday morning, residents were given the opportunity to try out a variety of colouring books, designed to release stress and express one's creativity. With a range of colours and designs to choose from, residents were encouraged to express themselves however they pleased in this low-pressure yet satisfying activity.

This morning Coppice Lodge hosted our biweekly tots playgroup with the wonderful Bits and Bobs! The room was full of energy and noise due to the amazing turnout, and the residents really enjoyed seeing the children and playing with them.

Doreen was unable to knit for a few weeks a while back but has recently overcome this hurdle and has started to spend her downtime around the home knitting away - her current project is a baby blanket for someone who is due around summertime. Her face says it all she is very delighted to be back in her happy place with her knitting needles in hand and choosing which colour to integrate into the blanket next.
With the hand of our lovely knit and knatter Lady that comes in Monday afternoon Doreen is able to knit away her chosen colored squares and on Mondays they are put together just the way Doreen likes it.

Ps- Doreen has had a glass of wine and was very excited to have her photo taken so her family & friends can see what she gets up to 🍷

To cap off our week of Valentine's Day celebrations, yesterday afternoon we set up a photo booth in our reception area for residents to come and take some themed photos. Whether alone, or with friends, family members, or staff, all residents were welcome to come and get their pictures taken.

A Valentine's treat!

This morning was our monthly residents' baking session here at Coppice Lodge! To keep with the Valentine's Day spirit, we made heart-shaped shortbread biscuits in a variety of different flavours—currants, chocolate chips, and, of course, plain old shortbread for those feeling less adventurous. Residents will get the chance to eat the biscuits this evening alongside their tea 😊

We've been blessed by the Lovely Amy Evans this afternoon for her valentines day special. As always her voice and energy was mesmerising and all of our residents have loved having listening to all of the songs. Love is in the air this February

Today we held a special Valentine's edition of our weekly afternoon tea! Alongside the tea and the delicious spread of sandwiches and cakes, residents enjoyed live music from the talented Johnny Victory, making a return to the home after his appearance at the Christmas Fair. It was a wonderful afternoon, and it was lovely to see so many smiling and singing faces!
