Wonderwool Wales haul — two days, one very willing wallet.
Day one with my mother-in-law, day two in a fleece preparation workshop with , with a very reasonable amount of shopping squeezed in between. I say reasonable. Four bags says otherwise.
By the end of day two I had so much that the minibus driver spotted me struggling in the car park and stopped to help me find my car. Genuinely couldn’t carry it all and locate a vehicle at the same time. No notes.
The linen fabric from is for a summer set I have grand plans for — Archer work pants and a little top. Whether I find the time is a separate question entirely.
Beads and a crochet hook, because apparently I needed a new thing to learn. First beaded knitting incoming — eventually.
Sock yarn from and because I just finished the first pair of Ellie’s spring socks and the pattern is nearly ready for testing, which means I need a second pair that photographs well. This is a completely legitimate reason to buy yarn.
Undyed yarn from and for natural dye experiments — hoping to get to a workshop in the next month or two, so this is forward planning, not impulse buying.
And two fleeces from the workshop. One for spinning, one for felting a rug. Both completely outside my comfort zone. Fingers crossed.
Updates to follow, if I survive the project queue.

Second day at Wonderwool and somehow still not enough time.
I’d already done a full lap on day one, and still managed to leave a few stalls unvisited. Day two had a plan — fleece preparation workshop with , a little light browsing, home at a sensible hour. The browsing got away from me slightly. It always does.
What I keep coming back to with events like this is how much of it has nothing to do with the buying. It’s the conversations you fall into at a stand, discovering a process you hadn’t thought about before, being introduced to a technique that wasn’t even on your radar. Two days and I still didn’t see everything. I’m not sure three would have been enough.
The workshop was the highlight — getting hands on with fleece, learning the process, understanding what to actually look for. I left with two fleeces and a lot of ambition for things I’ve never tried before. We’ll see how that goes.
And then the car park. Four bags, two very tired arms, and one extremely kind minibus driver who took pity on me and drove me round until we found my car. A fitting end, honestly.
Already thinking about next year.

At the start of the year I made myself a promise: attend as many fibre events as possible.

This month I’ve managed to plan two. Just came back from Kraków where I attended .krk, and tomorrow I’m travelling to attend Wonderwool Wales.
I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday, doing workshops and probably making questionable decisions at the stalls.

Is anyone else going?

A highlight of my visit to Kraków was .krk
On Sunday I attended a four-heel socks workshop with and I haven’t stopped since. I couldn’t think about anything else until I finished both socks, even though working on them during social gatherings made things a bit tricky. Frogged each heel at least three times. Cast on the second sock immediately. That’s already an improvement on my first pair, where there was a two-year gap between sock one and sock two.
Working through the Fleegle heel, yarn kindly sponsored by , a lovely shop in Kraków.
Would anyone like to see how the Fleegle heel works? 🧦

A knitwear designer at a .krk is a dangerous thing. 🧶

I went in with a list. I did not stick to the list. And honestly, I regret nothing.

- Swing pure in SP64motki - Viscoza in Żurawinaknitski.yarns - Bamboorino in Pickle Rick 🥒pl - Morus in Turian Purple
- Tibetan DK in Sherwood

One of them has a design in mind. Can you guess which? 👇

Projektantka dzianin na festiwalu włóczki to niebezpieczna kombinacja. 🧶

Poszłam z listą. Listy się nie trzymałam. I szczerze? Nie żałuję ani trochę.

— Swing pure w kolorze SP64motki — Viscoza w Żurawinieknitski.yarns — Bamboorino w kolorze Pickle Rick pl — Morus w kolorze Turian Purple
— Tibetan DK w kolorze Sherwood

Na jedną z tych włóczek mam już pomysł. Zgadniesz która? 👇

Be honest, would you leave with just one skein? 👀

A slower side of Kraków I’ve been enjoying.

There’s more to Kraków than Wawel, Kazimierz and the Old Town.

I’ve started at the hairdresser - every time I’m back, I try to fit in all the things that just feel easier in Poland.

Then breakfast in Krowodrza area. No rush, no tourist menus. Just artisan coffee, good food and my knitting. I had the labneh plate - asparagus, pickled cucumbers, brown butter with cumin, rhubarb salsa, sourdough - and I’m still thinking about it. Kraków has been filling up with really good cafes.

A walk through the park, where I found a small bronze dragon dressed head to toe in knitted and crocheted accessories. Wrocław has its gnomes, Kraków has dragons and it’s always fun to stumble across one.

Then Good Lood ice cream on a bench and just enough sunshine to pretend it’s already summer. Dairy cream, raspberry and rhubarb tart, and mazurek with marzipan - the choice was overwhelming. Every flavour was tempting.

This city keeps getting better.

🇵🇱

Pytam czysto teoretycznie.

🇬🇧
Kraków delivered. A knitting meetup, a few brilliant women, and conversations that went from WIPs, yarns, pregnancies, UX to corporate politics - sometimes in the same breath.
The sense of community was immediate. The kind where you sit down with strangers and two hours disappear.

My sock is progressing slowly - 2.5mm needles and a tight gauge will do that - but I'm not rushing it. Also came away with yarn recommendations which I am quite excited about.

Is it time to move back to Kraków? Asking for a friend.
